James McCarthy Obituary

Of Quincy. Passed Nov. 7, 2007 at home with his loving family. Retired QFD. Loving husband of Patricia (Foley). Cherished father of James McCarthy, Patricia Morales and Daniel McCarthy all of Quincy. Brother of Frances Crowley of Palm Beach FLA formerly of N. Easton, Joseph McCarthy of Winchester, VA and Marianne Lenihan of Newtown, PA. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and grandfather of the late Jonathan McCarthy. Jimmy was a retired firefighter for the City of Quincy for 25 years. He grew up in South Boston and lived in Quincy for 37 years. He was the past president of the Quincy Fire Fighters local 792. He is a Director of the Quincy Credit Union. Jimmy was a Past member of the laborer's Union #223 and the founding member of the Pick and Shovel Club. He was a long time member of the TRYC Yacht Club in Quincy. Jimmy wintered in his home in Englewood, FL. Funeral Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament Church of Holy Trinity Parish, 1000 Sea St, Quincy, Monday morning at 10:00AM. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., MILTON, Sunday 2-6PM. Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, Milton (617) 696-4200. Donations may be made in Jimmy's name to the Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Drive, Braintree, MA 02184.

Patty & Family,

Judy and I are very sorry for your loss. Jimmy was a great guy and a terrific firefighter. I enjoyed serving as a director with him at the Quincy Credit Union. Judy and I will always remember the time Jimmy took us out on his boat in Englewood. It was what he seemed to enjoy the most. Again, very sorry.
