Eleanor Beckwith Obituary

Of Wayland, died on October 31, 2007, at the age of 80. She was the wife of Peter Beckwith of Wayland for 53 years and lived in Wayland for over 50 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children Alan Beckwith and his wife Nancy of Medfield; Sue Oparowski and her husband Paul of Grafton; Trish Beckwith and her partner Dan Stocking of Juneau, Alaska and Cary Beckwith of Brandon, Vermont. She was the sister of Mally Pierce of Cotuit, EmmyLou Crosby and her husband Ted of Osterville and the late Ted Vaughan and his wife Barbara of Edinboro, PA. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was the daughter of the late Wayland and Clara (Colton) Vaughan of Needham. Ellie was a graduate of Smith College and worked as a Media Aide at Claypit Hill Elementary School in Wayland for over 20 years. She also worked as the Wayland Girl Scout Cookie Chairman for over 20 years. Burial was private in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the First Parish Unitarian Church, Route 20 and Route 27, Wayland Center. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers her family suggests memorial gifts in her memory may be sent to the Patriots Trail Girl Scout Council, Attn: Katelyn Leonard, 95 Berkeley St, Boston, MA 02116. Arrangements are under the direction of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home of WAYLAND.
