Edwin Campbell Obituary

86, Of Falmouth, ME died suddenly Nov. 7, 2007, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME. Born May 20, 1921, in Northampton, MA, the youngest child of Stuart and Clara (Cooley) Campbell. He attended Williston Academy, then Worcester Polytechnic Institute earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1943. Immediately after graduation Ed enlisted in the Army Signal Corp, serving in the Pacific during World War II, as a 1st Lieutenant. Ed worked at Industrial Risk Insurers, Hartford, CT, until retirement. He was a long time resident of West Hartford, CT, and retired to Orleans, MA, where he developed his love of gardening, birding, boating, and lobstering. He later moved to New London, NH and Falmouth, ME. Ed was beloved husband for 36 years of the late Dorothy Stevens and then for 13 years of the late Jean Warren. He was dearly loved by his children Nancy Campbell Stam and her husband Peter Stam of Needham, MA; Robert Campbell and his wife Kathleen McGrath of Concord, MA; and by two grandchildren Brian Stam, and Christopher Stam, of Needham, MA. He was brother of the late Stuart Campbell and Cloyce Reed. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, November 15 at 2:00 PM at the Congregational Church of Needham, 1154 Great Plain Ave., Needham, MA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Massachusetts Audubon Society, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773.

Mr. Campbell,
Sir, I didn't know you but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
