Betsey Rochford Obituary

Of Madison, CT. Assistant Assessor (Ret.), Town of Madison, died Friday at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was 72. Born in Boston, MA, she grew up in Belmont, MA. She was a graduate of Brimmer & May School and Pine Manor Junior College. She married her childhood sweetheart, Richard D. Rochford in 1955. She lived in North Carolina, California, New York, Michigan, Illinois, Mass., New Jersey, and Indiana before moving to Madison in 1978. In Madison, she was an active member of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, volunteer for Saint Andrew's Thrift Shop, and one of the first volunteers for the Madison Arts & Sciences Council. She devoted her later years to caring for her husband & doting on her children & grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Richard D. Rochford; a daughter, Daphne Halpern of Oceanport, NJ; a son, Richard D. Rochford, Jr. of Victor, NY; a brother, James Tillotson of Cohasset, MA; and six grandchildren: Drake, Clark, & Miranda Halpern of Oceanport, NJ and Madeline, Molly & Caroline Rochford of Victor, NY. She was predeceased by her brother Theodore Loren (Ted) Tillotson, of Nantucket, MA. Swan Funeral Home in MADISON, CT has been entrusted with arrangements. A memorial service will be held at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, Madison, CT, Saturday, November 17, 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be sent to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
