Of South Boston, November 18, 2007. Beloved son of the late William and Mary (Nee) Carroll. Loving brother of his twin Anna Lanza of Mattapan, Claire Haugh and her husband Edward of Quincy, Patricia Carroll of South Boston, Fr. John Carroll, SSJ of Washington, DC and the late Mary Curran, Rita Sullivan and William Carroll. Dear brother-in-law of Margaret (Donovan) Carroll of Beverly. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces & nephews. Funeral from The O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON, Saturday at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass in Gate of Heaven Church Saturday at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Late member of the Castle Island Association and Lector at Gate of Heaven Church. Retired employee of the Mitre Corporation, WWII Navy Veteran. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joseph's memory to the Gate of Heaven School, 609 East Fourth Street, South Boston, MA 02127.

Mr. Carroll,
Sir, I didn't know you but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Joe was a faithful member of the Gate of Heaven Family, who could always be seen at the 9:00 Mass on Sunday, we will miss him.
