Edward Hegarty Obituary

Age 69, of Squantum, died Nov. 26, 2007. Son of the late Michael J. and Catherine A. (Flavin) Hegarty. Devoted husband of Janet R. (Williams) Hegarty of Squantum. Beloved father of Susan M. and her husband Frank "Jude" Monahan of Weymouth, and Carolyn M. and her husband Donald Ross, Jr. of Quincy. Loving brother of the late Michael J. Hegarty. Cherished grandfather of Thomas and Courtney Ross, and Brendan and Daniel Monahan. Ned Hegarty was born and raised in Dorchester. The Hegarty family moved to Squantum more than 30 years ago. Ned proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960. He was a retired ironworker and spent 35 years working for Local 501. Ned was a member of the 2nd Marine Division New England Chapter located here in Quincy. He was an avid Boston sports fan. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. The Dept. of Ma. Marine Corp League thanks you for your service to God, our Country, and to our beloved Corps.
To Ned's family we send our sympathies and our prayers on your loss and the loss of our Brother. Ned has now accepted his last and best assignment with our Supreme Commandant on the streets of Heaven. He will serve with the same honor that he did here on Earth. While Ned's earthly presence is no longer with you, his spirit will dwell in your hearts forever thru the memories he left you. May God bless you and stand with you thru this sorrowful time.
