Henry Powicki Obituary

Age 72, a resident of Sherborn since 1964, died November 8, 2007 at the Wayside Hospice Center in Wayland. He was born in Lynn & at the age of 7 his family moved to Cambridge Springs, PA, where his father worked for Alliance College & his grandfather served on their Board of Trustees. He graduated from high school there & attended Alliance College for 2 years before transferring to MIT in Cambridge, MA. After graduating in 1957, he worked for LFE Electronics & Harvey Wells Corp., & then began a career with General Telephone & Electronics Corp., that spanned 32 years. He retired in 1993 as Deputy Director of Engineering for the Defense Communications Division. An Avid sports enthusiast, he was a life long Red Sox fan, as well as for many years was a season ticket holder for the Boston Celtics & the New England Patriots. He enjoyed tennis & golf & passed on his love & respect for those sports to his children & grandchildren. For the past 14 years, he & his wife have divided their time between Florida & Sherborn, spending 4 months of each year living in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. This was his sacred haven, a place surrounded by magnificent beauty, cherished friends & relatives & a rich history. It will be his final resting place. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margaret (Antonioli) Powicki; one daughter, Jennifer Hawkins of Sherborn, two sons, Christopher Powicki & his wife Elizabeth Hooper of Cummaquid, MA and David Powicki & his wife Lydia Peterson of Leverett, MA. Also survived by his sisters, Joanne O'Connell & Joyce Powicki of California; 6 grandchildren & several nieces & nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Pilgrim Church, Sherborn, Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at 11 AM. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Michael J.
