To the Canty family,
May I offer my condolences.
To John,
You were the difference some young kids in Somerville needed to stay on the right track. You always did your best to never turn down a friend or person in need. You were a good friend to my father in and out of the K of C.,and a stand up guy when your country and city called on you.
Thanks for coming by pal. We couldn't have done it without you.

Sean and the Canty Family,
Growing up my father (George Morgan) was a friend of Officer Canty's and a frequent passenger in his cruiser ~ front seat passenger that is! I remember fondly the many times we were playing tackle football in the grass next to Shawmut Bank when the cruiser would pull up to the intersection of Broadway and School Street, Sean would hop out, the lights/siren would come on and Officer Canty was off to a call. Sean would dutifully wait there until he returned. I especially appreciated on one occasion a code three ride to Somerville Hospital for five stitches to close a hockey puck mishap.
And on the night my father died, John Canty was the first one to come by the house to check on my mother, Eleanor Oliverio, as he did many times of the following months and years.
A great man with a great legacy.
Your are in our thoughts and prayers,

Jaime and family,
Please know my thoughts are with you. Anytime you spoke of your grandfather your face would light up with joy. I hope the memories you've made with him and the rest of your family will continue to make you smile when you think of him....

Semper Fi Marine Canty.
The Dept. of Ma. Marine Corp League thanks you for your service to God, our Country, and to our beloved Corps.
To John's family we send our sympathies and our prayers on your loss and the loss of our Brother.
John was a member of our Greatest Generation and set the standard for all other Marines to attain. He will be missed by all Marines. He has now reported to our Supreme Commandant where he will watch over you forever from the streets of Heaven. Although his earthly being is no longer with us, his spirit will live always in your hearts thru the memories he left. May God Bless you and stand with you thru this sorrowful time.

Mr. Canty,
Sir, I didn't know you but as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice-first for our Country when you served in the USMC during WW II and secondly for the citizen of Somerville when you served with the SPD. It was the history and accomplishments made by you and your fellow Marines during WW II that all of us Marines who followed in your footsteps have always tried to live up to. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
