Evelyn was like a flower who brought beauty and sunshine to all who crossed her path. And like a flower, her time of blossom was all too short. To her family and friends, please know her sweet fragrance lives on.

The sun came out just before 11 o’clock on Tuesday morning when funeral services for Evelyn Maurici were to begin at Caggiano Funeral Home. That’s how Evelyn elevated my mood when I entered Winthrop Public Library on a glum day to dig into volumes of plans or records. I’d hoped to go to her service, but at 10 o’clock snow was falling and freezing on my stairs and walks. I don’t do ice (because of damaged joints now replaced) —and Evelyn wouldn’t have wanted me to take a chance.
Our young Circulation Librarian leaving us after a relatively brief, devastating illness. Evelyn would be thrilled that the upstairs Reading Room and Study Area will be reopened Dec. 11.–another ray of sun for which she strove.

I was very sad to read the obituary in last weeks paper of Evelyn Jane Maurici who passed away at the age of 36.
Evelyn librarian at our Winthrop Public Library supervised me as a volunteer at the library during the past summer. She always had a smile for me and thanked me for everything I did. We will miss her very much.
Sincerely

Even though we lived far apart, Evelyn was my oldest and dearest friends. I don't know what I'll do without her, but I feel like the luckiet person for having her in my life! Mr. and Mrs. Maurici, I cannot tell you how sorry I am and I wish with all my heart I could have been there, but she was always in my heart. I will keep writing and sending you pics of the kids!
All my love!

I am so sorry to hear about Evelyn, I used to be friends with Evelyn as little girls. We would sleep over each others houses and I loved Maryjanes brownies and walk to school everyday, at the Theodore Lyman, and Aligheiri, then to the Joseph Barnes school, I lived on Bremen Street and Evelyn would meet me to walk to school... It has been a long time since I have seen her but I want to say to Evelyns parents that I am so sorry to hear about Evelyn and may she rest in peace..Joanne Diaz-Fiore

Oh, my lovely Evelina, how I loved you. Every year you were more and more my little sister. The cards I wrote to you while I was in a cast and IV were followed by a poem for Fifty-Two. You were my Muse for that book, sweetest of Evys. I did want to come over and show you my purple dress with the elbow-length navy gloves but you were already blessed and buried when that time came. I read the poem "Waiting for Evy" at my reading and people were very, very moved. My sweet and loved Evelina. You'll always be with me.

Dear Janey and Vinnie,
I want to thank you for raising a truly fine person. Evy was the epitome of faith, hope and love. She inspired faith in those with none, instilled hope in those that were in need, and spread love among whomever she touched. She was a Christian and a loyal patriot, few people honestly love their Lord and their Country as she did.
I am blessed for having had the privilege to know her and benefit from her friendship.
My heart breaks because she is not with us any longer but rejoices because she is at home in those many rooms that God has provided for those who accept his son as their Saviour.
May God Bless and keep you both, now and always,
Elizabeth Blake

Like everyone else has said, Evelyn will be greatly missed. She touched everyones hearts with just being her normal self, thats what made Evy so different from everyone else i've known. She was a great friend in times of need, and just regular days. I will always remember her whenever i see Martha Stewart and remember to laugh about it and not be sad shes not here to yell at me for making fun of her Martha.
I love you Boss, i know your watching down on all of us right now. i'm just happy your not in pain anymore, but sad your not here with us. we'll meet again and share our craftyness together.

I'm Robyn Mason's fiancé and Evelyn was such an inspiration to both of us. In the midst of her pain and strife she always had a smile and a kind word for others. My Dad battled cancer recently, and when I came to Winthrop, Evelyn took time out of her day to pray for him with Robyn and Me. She was such an amazing woman! She will be missed! I rejoice that her pain is gone, but mourn the loss of a great light in this world!
