Henrietta Kobbs Obituary

Died Sat. Dec. 8 at St. Camillus Nursing Home in Whitinsville where she had been a resident the past 9 years. Her husband Joseph J. Kobbs died in 1974. She is survived by a son Joseph A. Kobbs of Randolph VT; 3 daughters; Eleanor A. Hadley of Franklin, Joan M. Ruane of Northbridge, and Karen K. Toomey of Stoneham; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother Richard Coughlin of Scituate; a sister Marie Lewando of Falmouth and many nephews and nieces. She was sister of the late Beatrice Howe, Eleanor McCabe, Mildred Chabre, John, Joseph, William, and Francis Coughlin. She was also predeceased by a son-in-law Arthur Hadley. Born in South Boston, she was the daughter of Francis and Catherine (Connors) Coughlin, and lived most of her life in W. Medford. Mrs. Kobbs was a salesperson for RCA Corp. in Medford and worked at Transitron Corp. in Melrose several years. She was also Rectory cook for St. James Church in Arlington several years. She enjoyed bowling, ceramics and was an avid reader. She liked attending the Vision of Peace Prayer meetings in Holliston and was a former member of St. Josephs Church in Medway. She loved getting together with her family and was known for her great sense of humor. She was a member of St. Patricks Church in Whitinsville. Her funeral will be held Thurs. Dec. 13 from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. Whitinsville with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patricks Church, 1 Cross St. Private burial will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville. Calling hours at the funeral home in Whitinsville are Wed. Dec. 12 from 3 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Camillus Activities Fund, 447 Hill St. Whitinsville MA 01588. www.jackmanfuneralhome.com

Here's to a wonderful woman who raised 4 beautiful children! Although I haven't seen Etta in many years I still remember the warmth and welcome feeling I had when in her home(s). The numerous memories shared in West Medford as well as Mashpee. My thoughts and heartfelt feelings are with you Eleanor, Joe, Joanie, and Karen as they are with the rest of the family.
