Jack passed far too early in life. I have been trying to locate Pam Curtin, but no luck. Can anyone email me if they know how to contact her? Thanks.

Dear Pam and family--Patt and I were deeply saddened to hear of Jack's passing. We all have lost a giant in so many ways. I will always cherish the times I spent with Jack and remember him as the friend and professional that he was. I can still hear the last words of his acceptance speech as President of NASBP in Toronto (I think!)--something like.."Give me a fast ship and a sturdy crew, for I intend to travel in harms way!" He was so special--Our Best Wishes--Terry and Patt Payne

Dear Pam and Curtin Family, So very sorry on Jack's passing as well as taking so long to send these sympathies along. Health and travel issues some how got in the way and they shouldn't. I will never forget Jack as one of the few who felt I was ready for the Leadership chairs, and convinced me and others that I was in fact capable. We often disagreed on issues but never on the passion that we must all bring to the table on those issues. Jack was an inspiration to so many and clearly of great influence on me, particularly during the many Surety School lessons he taught and the out of class sessions where he continued to teach with a flair even greater than the classroom. Jack will never be forgotten as long as the surety industry exists, as his positive legend, rightfully deserved, will live on. God Bless Jack's spirit and those who mourn him.

Dear Pam, Jeremy and Joel
It is with great regret that we heard of the passing of Jack. He was a very successful down to earth businessman who helped my business emmensly when we were just getting started. Jack always had a great story or two to tell, with his deep laugh. I will never forget the awesome lunches at your office when I came up from the Cape. He will truly be missed as a loyal husband, sound father, a caring friend and a facilitator of sound business practices.
With our deepest sympathy, Love, David & Cindy Parrella

To the Jack Curtin Family: As a classmate, we too lost one of our ND family members. Though not a close friend as were many, I can see Jack obviously prided himself in his wife and sons and their families. May you find the peace of knowing his pride that he will take with him and may Jack rest in peace.

Pam; My deepest sympathies to you and your sons on Jack's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of Jack from our years at Saint Sebastian's and ND. What I remember most about Jack was his love of people-he was truly interested in what people had to say and people sensed that and responded to him and to the smile that always seemed to be on his face. I always looked forward to our ND reunions and to spending some time with him. I'm happy I saw him at the ST Sebastian's reunion this summer. I will miss him and that smile.

Dear Curtin Family,
YOu lost a treasure. For many, like me, a great friend. Jack, from Boston, me from a small Montana town, and we were close pals throughout our Notre Dame years. Jack was so much fun, so full of life. We had so many discussions about everything: from football to politics, from girls to good beers to drink. I have thought so often over the years about this great and good man. I am glad we had a chance to visit a good deal at the 45th. My prayers for all of you.

As a Notre Dame classmate '62 and fellow Vietnam Navy vet, please accept my condolences for your sudden loss of Jack. I attended St. Charles in Woburn while studying at Fletcher School on Tufts campus and thus can feel just a little closer to all of you during such a sad time. Regards, John G. Kost

Pam: We are very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Being in the surety business for forty years myself I knew Jack and saw him at all the Mass. Surety Assoc. Christmas dinners and summer surety golf outings. Although I never had any business with Jack I always enjoyed my talks with him. He always had a warm caring smile. As I live in Winchester I used to run into Jack sometimes at the center and we would exchange "hellos" amd maybe a little surety talk. God bless him as well as your family.

As a former colleague in the surety business, I offer my own condolences to the Curtin family. Jack was larger than life, a quick thinker, with an incisive sense of humor. I look back with fondness on my too-few opportunities to work with him back in the late 70's. Life took me in a different direction, and I always missed working with him, when I reflected back on those years.

Pam and family:

What words can I use to convey deepest sympathy for the loss of Jackie. He once told me that I was the only person that he allowed to call him "Jackie". I reminded him that I picked that up from family members when he was in grade school. When he came to work summers at the agency, it was
Jackie and it was Jackie right up to our last conversation.

He is a legend in the surety world. Our loss pales in comparrison to yours but remember life goes on for the ones
he left behind.

Dear Jack's Family,

Jack will be missed. He has done so much for the surety industry and has had a hand in educating so many people throughout their careers. Jack has left some big shoes to fill for the younger generation to step up and advocate for the surety industry. May Jack rest in peace. God bless.

Dear Pam & family: Sincere sympathy for your loss. I believe many others feel it is our loss, too. Although we didn't always agree, it was always fun working with Jack, particularly in the NASBP Surety School. Those are the fondest memories of my career. The times we got together at the conventions are also fond memories. God bless you all.

I was so saddened to hear of Jack’s death. I worked with him throughout the fifteen years I was in the Quincy/Franklin offices of USFG/St Paul/Travelers Bond. Jack immersed himself in the surety industry to the benefit of us all. He was always the “go to” guy. Although I never got to see him teach in a classroom, he was always a fountain of knowledge. In truth, I think he enjoyed teaching surety even more than practicing it. Jack loved a challenge. He always brought his “A” game and expected the same in return. The surety industry has lost a great ally.

Jack brought many of us together in the construction industry to work cooperatively to get things done we could not on our own. Even if the issues were contentious, you always looked forward to being with Jack. His quick wit and hearty laugh were always in full display, and enhanced the great intelligence and passion he brought to all his work. So many of us will remember him with a tip of the hat and a big, warm smile.

It has been 25 years since I worked with Jack as an underwriter with the Travelers Surety Department in Boston. I still have fond memories of a good man with a great sense of humor. He was the consummate professional with a great passion for the Surety business.

Pam and family -

Jack was one of the first people I met at the beginning of our Freshman year at ND, as we lived about 5 rooms apart on the second floor of Keenan. His personality was such that his room became a gathering place during that year. After graduation, we saw each other at reunions, making sure we spent a little time together and shared a couple of calls over time.

Jack was always very good natured and had a great sense of humor which made him one of the more popular members of the class.

I will miss him and my prayers are with you.

Pamela & Family,
I've known Jack for 50 years since we started at Notre Dame.
While I did not have a lot of contact in later years, I kew I always had a friend in Boston. Several Years ago I had a meeting to attend in Boston and Jack helped me find the right places to eat. Unfortunately he had to be at Notre Dame while I was in Boston so I didn't get to see him.
I'll remember Jack and your family in my prayers.

Gladys and I have very fond memories of times spent with you and Jack.
Our daughter, Sheila Thompson and I were attending a Surety Canada event last night and learned of his passing. All those who knew him were shocked.
My memories of Jack go back to the December 1969 Travelers Surety seminar, a great time of fellowship and learning, and the beginning of a long friendship. We of course continued to meet at NASBP conventions, and I recall Jack's very successful year as President. Even though I have been retired for 11 years, I have continued to hear about Jack from Sheila.
Gladys joins me in our expression of sympathy to you all.
May Light perpetual shine upon him

God bless

We are all so sorry to hear of Jack's passing at such a young age.

Yet, if you lived a hundred years and didn't make a positive impact on others lives, it would be a bigger tragedy.

Having the chance to know Jack, I believe I was better for it. There was a time in our lives when we shared some success professionally. For that, I will always be grateful. However, that's not why I held him in such high regard.

Jack tested you. He asked for your best, and gave his in return. He was unique and in doing that, he could bring out what was unique in you that may have otherwise stayed hidden.

When we lose someone who has touched our lives, even for a moment, we all feel that loss. But often, out of the tragedy, we are reminded of that person, triviality is removed, and only that which defined them remains forever.

May God Bless Jack, and all who mourn him.
