Grace McCormick Obituary

BRATTLEBORO -- Grace “Kitty” (Remillard) McCormick, 93, formerly of Greenhill Parkway, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Thompson House, where she had resided since 1998.

She was born in St. Johnsbury, on Aug. 31, 1914, daughter of A. J. and Lila (Webber) Remillard, and was a lifelong resident of Brattleboro.

Her husband of 57 years, Owen McCormick, died in 1998.

She graduated from Brattleboro High School in 1931 and attended nursing school. She worked in the offices of Dr. Roland McSweeney and Dr. John Lord, and later served as a dispatcher for the Brattleboro Police Department. She also worked in the accounting office at Brattleboro Retreat prior to retirement.

Mrs. McCormick enjoyed ballroom dancing in her younger years, sewing, and was especially fond of her cats.

Survivors include a nephew, Jerome Remillard and his wife, Rosemary of Putney; a brother-in-law, Edward McCormick of Hinsdale, N.H.; and several other nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church on Walnut Street. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.

There are no visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Windham County Humane Society, 916 West River Road, Brattleboro, VT 05303.

Arrangements are under the care of the KER- WESTERLUND & FLEMING FUNERAL HOME, 57 High St., Brattleboro.u
