Dear Jean,
My heart is with you - a sister is a part of you and you are just sure you'll be settin' on the front porch somewhere sunny in your later years. When Judy died last year my pastor just kept telling me, "Feel the love, Mo." As strong as my faith is, his advice broke through the pain and I was able to see the love for Judy, and for my family. Judging from this guestbook, you all are very loved and the love expressed for Joanie cannot be measured. Our love to you, John and Michael, and to all your family. I'm hoping Joanie and Judy are having some good laughs together and lovingly keeping watch over their sisters. love,
Mo and Dave Muck

Dear Jean and Family:
I am sorry to learn of Joan's death. My "vintage" photo album still has a picture of the two of you, me, Connie C and Lynn Ames at a birthday party [age 6] at what is now a church. ---That's when we all lived in the "country" out beyond Youngs Road. Joan was always a torpedo of energy! I know she'll be sorely missed and happily loved and remembered.

I first met Joan when we were 9 years old and we have been friends ever since. She was one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met. I cannot imagine what my life would have been without her. I am going to miss her very, very much. My prayers are with her family, especially Jean.

Memories of Joan: First meeting when Joan taught at East Elementary. Great colleague and friend. Sharing the athletic fields at East Seneca for many years. All those ARO meetings. Picnic at her home out by her pool. Grilling hot dogs at our retired teachers "Wood Group" picnics. Using her shrill whistle to get the attention of 60 plus retired women teachers. Summer gatherings out at Rushford Lake at Sandi, Lynda and Kathy's place.

To Ms. Metz' family,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Ms. Metz had a huge impact on my life. Ms. Metz was my gym teacher and swim coach at West Seneca East from 1973 - 1977 and field hockey coach for 2 years. The gym office was my second home in high school. She cared very much about her students and was always there for them. I can still hear her voice yelling "Go Nestle" when I was on the starting block about to race. She was right there at the end of the lane with a smile and encouraging words. Ms. Metz... THANK YOU FOR ALL THE ENCOURAGING WORDS DURING THOSE 4 YEARS....THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS.

My deepest sympathies to Joan's family. Every day with Joan was a laugh and an adventure. Her playful spirit certainly livened up the halls of East Senior. Her kindness for others was truly a gift. I'd like to think she and Karen Steiner are up there laughing together.

I was a student of Joan Metz in the 70's. Recently I went on a ski trip to Austria with Barb Wrobel and some other people who knew Joan (Pat, Laura, Alice Say). They told me of Joan's situation. The talks reminded me of how great a person Joan was and what she meant to me. Joan had a profound influence on my life. I hung out after school all the time (and I mean every day). Joan, Lynda Large and Sandi were always there with smiles. They let us kids hang with them. Always an encouraging word and a pat on the back from Joan. Always a how are you "Little Say" - Joan's nickname for me. On swim team Joan always allowed me to swim, even if it was the exhibition team. (I was not very fast). Joan is one of the few teachers who has always stayed in my mind. She made an impression on me. Few people in life stay with us forever, Joan has always been with me. What a great person she was. I pray for peace for the family as they go through this hard time. Know that the memories of Joan and her influence on our lives will always remain with us.
