James Ellwood Obituary

ELLWOOD - James ODell Sr. Of Boston, NY, May 29, 2008 at age 69. Survived by loving wife Alice (nee Ryan); father to Kathleen (David) Zarbo and James (Joann) Ellwood Jr.; proud papa to Kaitlin, Zackary and Zoe Zarbo, and his southern belle Elizabeth Ellwood; brother to Kathleen Ellwood, Susan (James) Barr, and Mary (Donald) Lewis. James proudly served in the US Army stationed in Panama. James was also a 35 year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. James retired from Mentholatum Company in 2003. James battled cancer full speed ahead, only to lose the fight in two short months. James courageously chose to donate his body to the University of Buffalo for medical research in an effort to find a cure for this disease. Nice Guy Jim will be greatly missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Jimmy for almost 20 years. During that time we became good friends. I remember that Jake, as we used to call him, always seemed to be in a good mood. He had a unique way of looking at things that always had us laughing. He was liked by all and will surely be missed. He will be in my thoughts and prayers.

DEAR ALICE AND FAMILY,I WORKED AT MENTHOLATUM WITH JIMMY SINCE 1980.WE WORKED TOGETHER AT THE WAREHOUSE ON AMHERST STREET UNTIL HE FELL OFF OF THAT TRUCK.ALICE YOU MIGHT REMEMBER ME FROM COURT AS I TESTIFIED FOR JIMMY.HE WAS A WONDERFUL MAN AND ALWAYS IN A GOOD MOOD.JIMMY WAS FUNNY AND ALWAYS GOOD FOR A LAUGH.WHEN EVER ANY OF THE CREW WENT TO A PARTY OR A WEDDING HIS FIRST QUESTION WAS WHAT DID YOU HAVE TO EAT?HE ALSO BROUGHT INTO OUR LIFES SOMETHING NEW TO PUT ON FOOD CALLED PEPTASTE.I WILL MISS JIMMY FOR THEIR WAS NO ONE LIKE HIM NOR WILL THERE EVER BE A REPLACEMENT.I LOST MY WIFE LINDA TO BREAST CANCER IN 2005 AND I KNOW HOW HARD IT WILL BE.I WILL PRAY FOR EVERYONE FOR STRENGTH AND PEACE.GODBLESS
