Dear Mahoney Family:
I was deeply saddened to hear of Judge Mahoney's passing. I liked and respected him very much. It seemed as though he always had a smile and a kind word to share when ever our paths crossed.
I am the Managing Attorney at the Erie County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project. During his year as President-Elect of the Bar Association, Judge Mahoney served on our Board of Directors. Of course, that was before he became a judge. He assisted our program many times, both as a private attorney and as a judge. He even provided us with some of his famous cartoons one time for one of our events.
He was a great judge, a great lawyer, and a great man.
My condolences to all of you.

Dear Mahoney Family,
My parents told us of Dave's passing and I just wanted to extend my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.Dave was a great human being, not only our great neighbor at the lake but a friend and golf partner at CCB. In all the years I knew him he never did not have a smile on his face and a kind word to say about everyone. He was known as a good, fair Judge and was extremely well respected by not only by his peers but his subordinates as well. We are thinking and praying for all of you at this time. Respectfully---

Dear Mrs. Mahoney and Family,

Please accept our deepest sympathies on your loss. David certainly was one of the most endearing, wise, grounded men I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was as much a pleasure to be with professionally as he was on the golf course. We share your loss. You are in our prayers.

To the Family of Judge Mahoney:
I had the wonderful honor of working with Judge Mahoney from 1991-1995 as one of the law guardians he appointed on divorce and custody cases. He was the most personable, compassionate and caring Judge. I got to know him on and off the bench prior to moving to Chicago and he was not only a great jurist but a delightful man with a great outlook on life. He was revered by his staff and collegues.
My sincerest sympathies to his family for their loss.

With fond memories,
Dawn Lawkowski-Keller

We were fortunate to have David and Heidi as neighbors when they lived on Cary St. in downtown Buffalo. David would walk to work almost everyday and upon his return at the end of what I am sure was a long day...he would turn the corner of Elmwood and Cary always whistling a happy tune.
Dave, you will always be our "whistle in the dark".

Mrs. Mahoney,
I am so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. I was a law clerk for Dave many years ago. Actually I was the first law clerk with his firm. He was an inspiration for a young aspiring lawyer. I have thought of him so many times over the years. If everyone was like Dave there would be peace in the world.

Dave was always one of my favorite people to talk with; Friendly, and always interested in small talk. There are scores of individuals, to be sure, who will miss Dave mightily. BAC noon hour will not be the same without him.
God bless him and his loving family.
