Having just learned today of Buck's passing it was indeed a sad occasion..Buck and I met through our connection to Maryknoll though he was a few years ahead of me...he made such an impression on me that my first son was named after him..my regret is that so many miles separated us...when my mother passed away he made the effort to attend the funeral at St. Gerard's and graveside ceremonies despite his condition..I still have one of Buck's tee shirts from Shane's Cafe w/ his image saying "The Buck Stops Here"...an old bottle of Tullamore Dew will be opened and a toast to Buck occasionally downed in his memory..Be seeing you Buck...Erin Go Bragh...Jack

I was saddened to hear of Gerrys passing. He truely had a gentle nature and a bigger than life Irish laugh. I remember the holidays on Bailey Avenue with the Leahy and Murphy families. They were wonderful times with enough love for all.

Dear Uncle Gerry,
You leave an indelible imprint on all that have known you, which is very wholesome and good. Despite what some would view as your exuberant nature; you somehow had an innate innocence. You were truly Irish in your personality and story telling. I'm glad that you are no longer suffering physically and that you are with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Paul, Aggie and Eileen and all the rest of the Leahy's and Murphy's and having a grand old time...you are already spiritually missed by all of us....Anne and Joseph, Betsy, Danny, RoseMarie and all the rest of your family and friends. We will try and keep your lessons near....rest peacefully and try not to shake the heavens too much! Love AnneMarie

Dear Ayers family, So sorry to learn of your brother and uncle's death. I remember what a nice man he was and how he made us laugh with his jokes and stories when he visited your house on Mt. Vernon and at your Grandma Leahy's. Ironically I am in Flordia on vacation; but my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Cheryl Dedloff Philipps

We don't have to worry about Buck. He's a spiritual person from wire to wire, one who had a great love of people and the history of people, a true story teller, and even a better listener. When he was tragically struck blind, he told me he was blessed that he lost his eyes and not his ears, for losing his ears he would have lost people completely. God bless my friend, may he rest in God's peace thru all eternity. I shall miss him.
