Mr. Ott was a wonderful man. He carried himself with a quiet dignity. I am sad to hear of his passing and feel proud to have known him and to have been the grateful recipient of his generosity and kindness.
As a small child, he and his wife Chris generously welcomed me into their house. They had a special gift for making a small child feel at home and also accountable .... perhaps more so than I was compelled to be with my own parents. I fondly remember my mom's first question as I entered the car when she picked me up after an overnight at the Ott's. "Did you say, Thank You?" I hesitated once and I was instantly sent back to go knock at the side door where everyone came and went. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Ott, if I did not say, 'thank you'. Thank You, Mrs. Ott for letting me spend the night!"
I have not forgotten, Mr. Ott, you driving me, an awkward 13-year-old, a long distance to visit my grandmother when I could have been shuffled off to a bus! That was the plan, but it was not in your nature and you kindly offered to take me. Datsun B210!! I hope to treat my family's friends as you did me.
With Love to the Ott family,
Steven Down

Katie and Family:
I am so shocked to learn of your father's death. I have known him since we were all little. He always made me smile and was one of the "cool" dads when we were growing up. I will miss him. Please take care and my sympathies.

Chris, We are so very sad, right along with you so unexpectedly, for you and your family.
Fortunately, he had to know how much he was loved by all; you & your family especially. Knowing he did not have to suffer, for long, also is a blessing.
Chris, love to you and your family,
From all your friends on 9 North

Dear Chris,
I am so sadden by your loss. I can not imagine how you feel. Every day I would see you at work you would tell me how many days left until you would retire and you and Jack were going to go see the grandchildren.
I hope you will find your way and we get to see that wise cracking personality you are known for return. I hope to see you soon.
