THOMPSON - Gene L. July 25, 2008. Beloved husband of Velma Kit (nee Davidson) Johnston-Thompson and the late Carmela (nee Augustine); dear father of Gene Michael (Jo Anne) Thompson; step-father of Kelly Johnson; loving grandfather of Sierra Johnston, Michael Thompson, Eric and Mary Mik; devoted son of Dorothy and the late Milo Thompson of Wisconsin; brother of Shirley (Jim) Zimmerman, Linda (Dwight) Spurlock, Robert (Cheryl) Thompson and the late Allen and Roger Thompson and Patricia Corning; also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the C. MERTZ AND SON FUNERAL HOME INC., 911 Englewood Ave., Sunday from 7-9 PM and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society.

Although I didn't know Gene well, just the fact that he took such good care of all of you tells me that he was an extra special person who I'm sure will be missed by many. The passing of time will help heal the hurt that you are feeling now. Eventually, your memories will sustain you. My thoughts and prayers are with you now and in the future. Take care!
