Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awake in the
morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush.
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am soft stars that shine at
night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.
Love from Laura, Sammy, Jack and Forever Colton Dollyhigh

Dear family and friends of Dick,
My brother-in-law Dick was a father figure, brother and friend to me. We shared many moments and here is just one:
In the 1960's there was little to no hockey on TV. Dick was a mechanical genius, electronic expert and of course a big hockey fan. The following event illustrates all three of his talents.
The only hockey games one could watch came from Canada before cable TV. So, in typical Dick Matre style, he would carefully arrange four or five carton boxes on top my mothers' kitchen table reaching close to the ceiling. Then he would send me up to the top holding rabbit ears (antenna) just so - to get some reception of the hockey game from Toronto. We could barely make out the players, not to speak of the puck, but watched the action nevertheless.
Dick was the only fan who could be heard from the top of the old Memorial Aud down to the ice. That booming voice and spirit got him an unusual position with the Army. He traveled as a catcher with the forts' baseball team, wearing a catchers mask and carrying bat rather than a helmet and gun.
From a kid at Seneca Vocational HS in Buffalo, NY, Dick was regarded as a top textile expert and lectured at NC State. He was a natural teacher to his boys and I. He will be greatly missed but remain as Nat Cole sang
"UNFORGETTABLE TOO".
