Joseph Lawler Obituary

LAWLER - Joseph L. Of Penn Yan, NY, age 90, passed away September 10, 2008 after a short illness. Born on June 23, 1918 in Flint, MI. Founder of Western NY Barrel & Drum Company; sold the business and retired in 1985 after running the business for nearly 45 years. Joseph joined in the U.S. Army during WWII as Sgt. Major on the African and Italian Campaigns. Life Member, Exhalted Ruler and District Deputy of the Elks Club (Lodge 860), and a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Predeceased by his spouse, Janice Lawler in April of 1990; survived by his son, Lawrence (Sandra) Lawler; daughter, Janice (Ken) Graff; predeceased by his parents, Edward L. and Julia Lawler; brother and sisters. Survived by his six grandchildren, Lisa (Marc) Romano, Lori (Kevin) Passmore, Tracy Graff, Katie Graff, Trevor Lawler, and Brendan Lawler; great-grandchild Nathan Passmore; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held in Penn Yan, NY on Saturday, September 13, 2008. Joseph is buried in Canandaigua, NY with his late wife Janice Lawler. Memorial contributions to the American Lung Association.
