Goodbye Dr. Bona, You were my doctor so many years ago. I'm now 50. You were able to calm my fears as a child going to the doctor. I feel I was blessed to have you as a doctor. Thank you for being there.

I still have all the papers Dr Bona gave me when I took my baby (now 34) to him and I looked back on them when our first grandbaby was born. He was a very special man. Kids knew he loved them. God be with your family and close friends.

Goodbye, Dr. Bona! You were my physician from early childhood and always showed great humor over my, shall we say, 'uncooperativeness' when I was a young boy. And you took good care of me through my high school years in the 'purple palace'. And now I'm 60 and fit as a fiddle, thanks to you! You were great and your family must be proud.

Dr. Bona was an absolutely wonderul pediatrician. I first met him in 1970 when our son was born. As a first time Mother I called on Dr. Bona for "help" more than once. He always told me that there was no such thing as a dumb question when I would call him regarding my "baby". I thought the world of this wonderful man and doctor!! He ALWAYS had time for his patients. He touched many lives and will be missed greatly.
Over the years I have run into him several times and he always remembered me. Maybe that was due to the fact I always gave him Christmas cookies when he was our childrens doctor!! Whenever he would see me I always got a hug whether it was in his office or out in public. He was a very loving man!! To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. God obviously needed a GREAT DOCTOR in heaven! Dr. Bona, rest in peace and know that you left heart prints on lots of people that knew you and loved you! YOU touched many lives!!

To the family of Dr. Bona,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. What a doctor he was! My mother (Evelyn Tanrath) was his bookkeeper for many years when he had his office at the Professional Building, otherwise known as "The Purple Palace." I remember talking to him many times and as a youngster helping my mom stuff statements in the envelopes at the end of the month to help out. I think she paid me a penny per envelope. We had some good times during those years with "Dr. Joe".

Of course, he was, by far, the best Doctor anyone would want to know. I can still picture him coming in to visit me in the office while smoking a pipe! He took care of my sister and me as young children. He was a Godsent for my parents because at the time they were fairly new to this country and they could communicate with him in Italian. My children and I recently visited him and Gloria in his home and my kids got the biggest kick out of his witty personality and short one-liners. We will definitely miss you Dr. Bona

Dr. Bona,
Thanks for keeping my brother and I healthy during our childhood. We visited your office on E. State St. once a week for years to get our allergy shots. I guess every shot was worth it...No allergies! Thanks,

He was our doctor that seemed like forever, I was one out of four children that he took care of. I remember when Dr. Bona made house calls. He would walk in with his little black doctor bag, and we knew everything was going to be ok! I had the pleasure of meeting with him again when he came into a place of buisness where I worked. I knew him right away. he made a big differnce to alot of American Italians in our community.
I thank you Doctor
always

The best Doctor in my opinion in the world, he was my pediatrician. He saved my life, I was sad when I had to change Doctors as I grew older. I can still see him walking in with that baseball cap on his head. He was a man who was dedicated to his patients and their families. I haven't seen Dr. Bona in awhile but when I would he would still know me. Heaven just got a great man, Thank you Dr. Bona for all you did for me. God Bless the family in this time, I know the effect he had me and I can't imagine how special he was to his family.

Dr. B.

You brought my twin sisters into this world in '55 then you delivered me in '57 and saved my life in '58. You would make house calls in all kinds of weather. Sometimes you had time for a bite to eat, or a glass of wine but you always had time to be our friend and wise mentor.

You delivered my daughters in '85 and '87, and you took great care of all four of my children.

A conversation with you may have only lasted a moment but your words have have echoed for a lifetime. An encounter with you always ended with a smile and a hug. You healed with your hands, your heart and your soul.

Give that stethoscope a rest, it has been hanging over your neck oh so long. We will never forget you! Thanks for gift of life, we love you Doc. Always.
