October 9, 2008 of Cheektowaga, NY; beloved husband of 48 years to Eleanor (nee Jaskowiak) Mackowski; dearest father of Thomas (Dorris), John (Adina), James (Wendy) and Michael (Luanne); dear grandfather of Daniel, Andrew, Matthew, Alan, Haley, Athena, Ian, Mark, Lauren Simm and Eric Simm; brother-in-law of Mary (late Edward) Rybus, Eleanor (late Bernard) Jaskowiak, Michael (Peggy) Jaskowiak, late Richard (Irene) Jaskowiak, Anne (Anthony) Polaszewski, Alice (late Edwin) Koscielniak, Chester (late Mary Jane) Jaskowiak, late Sophie (late Stanley) Rydzynski, late Stella (late Jerome) Kuzniarek; also survived by nieces and nephews. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME, 85 George Urban Blvd. (west of Harlem Rd.) where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 AM and from Queen of Martyrs Church at 11 AM. Interment St. Matthew Cemetery. Mr. Mackowski was a Veteran of WW II and a member of George F. Lamm Post. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Queen of Martyrs Preservation Fund.
