Douglas May Obituary

MAY - Douglas Henry 55, passed away on September 25, 2008 under the gracious care of Niagara Hospice after being blessed to have lived two rich, albeit, challenging years following surgery for the removal of a brain tumor. Loving husband, father brother, nephew and friend, he is survived by wife, WNY actor and poet Verneice Turner; daughter, Jasmine L. May; brother, Carl May; aunt, Dorothea May and a host of relatives, friends and colleagues. Born, raised and residing in Sanborn/Wheatfield, NY, he was the dutiful son of the late Arnold Pete & Micheliene Molly (Kwarciany) May. He graduated from the Starpoint Central School System and Clarkson University with honors. Douglas was employed at Praxair (formerly Union Carbide-Linde, Tonawanda) for 33 years. A Senior Engineering Associate, his passion for mechanical engineering enabled him to create innovative plant designs for the industrial gases division. Although an extremely private man, he had a big heart, mentored many in the business, traveled around the world to ensure a quality and pleasing to the eyes product, and always strived for the best in all that he put his hands to. On October 25th, his life will be celebrated at 2 PM at the Classics Vs Terrance Room. His body was given to UB Medical School in the hopes that others might learn and benefit from his challenging journey. The family wishes to thank all who have be kind enough to send cards, positive thoughts, prayers, words their way. For those who might be interested, in lieu of flowers, donations to Niagara Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to say I am very sorry to hear of your whole family's loss.
Although I have met Doug few times, we changed lots of e-mails.
I had never met any person whose body was donated to the Medical School.
Only special person can have that kind of behavior.
God bless you.
