Janet was such a lovely person - intelligent, interesting and fun to be around. I loved walking around her garden while she introduced me to the names of the flowers - she knew so much about horticulture - but she was also a great cook. I think of her often and am so grateful I had some time with her.

Alan, Gwen and family -
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Janet was a truly a great coworker, friend and inspiration to us all who always put everyone ahead of herself. Janet took advantage of any opportunity presented to her whether it was crunching those numbers at "budget time," organizing the Making Strides for Breast Cancer event, acting as "Principal Janet" at West Hertel Academy or taking that special vacation she couldn't wait for.
We will miss her very much~

To Alan and family:
I am saddened by Janet's passing but we know that she is now in the hands of our Lord and her pain and suffering has ended.
Every time I step onto my balcony and look at my small garden (that would not have happened save for Janet's guidance) I will think of her and remember her and all of you in my prayers.
Buffalo and Erie Cty. is a better place because of her.

Dear Alan, Heather, Gwen, Lori and Michelle,
Our sincere condolences to you all. It was too soon, and I know Janet felt like she still had much to do. She fought valiantly, while she was able, to stay with you. Janet's energy, spirituality, persistence, friendliness, mentoring of other professional and univeristy women - and of course her gardening skills and tips and hints given to thousands of others who toured hers and Alan's gardens - will not be forgotten. She remains a marvelous human being and example for us all.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you. We are deeply saddened and will continue to pray for Janet and all of you. - your friends, the Farrells (Daniel, Liz, Isabel & Matthew)

Dear Alan and family,
Even though we moved off of St. James 2 years ago, I still think of you and Janet when I think of the block! How I envied your commitment to walking with your dogs at least twice a day!
Your enthusiasm and support was always given so graciously!
I remember how much we would laugh at the chili cookoffs in the fall about the tooth pick votes!
Janet's love of gardening and flowers were just an expression of the beautiful flower which was inside of her. She was a very special person and will always hold a very special memory of the 10 years the both of you were part of my world!
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was very saddened to hear of Janet's passing. I worked with Janet at Citibank for many years. I remember Janet very fondly. She was very competent at her job and was a great source of support. She was fiesty and stood her ground when she felt strongly. She was also fun to work with. She knew how to mix business with some personal exchanges. I know how much she loved her garden and how involved she was in her community. I know how she adored her family and was always quick with a picture. Janet worked hard, but was a model for work/family balance. I was surprised when she retired, but admired her decision to spend more quality time with her husband and family. Although it has been over 8 years since we worked together, I can assure you that she left a lasting impression on everyone she interacted with. She always had a warm smile and a positive attitude.
My sincerest sympathies on your loss.
