Richard Fritz Obituary

FRITZ - Richard M. Age 82, formerly of Williamsville NY, passed away peacefully Monday, October 20, 2008 at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, PA. Born September 9, 1926 in Buffalo NY, he was the son of the late Howard L. and Grace Frey Fritz. Growing up in Rochester NY, he graduated from Aquinas Institute in 1944. He immediately joined the US Army where he met the love of his life, Lois Sundell, who he married June 5, 1946 at Fort Lewis WA. They lived most of their married lives in Rochester and Buffalo NY where Dick was Sales Manager of Hallmans Central Chevrolet and retired as Sales Manager for Frey, the Wheelman in 1991. He was a long-time member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, Harris Hill NY where he was a member of the Finance Committee. They enjoyed their retirement in Seven Lakes NC before moving to Mechanicsburg in 2005. Dick is survived by his four children Kathy (Ken) Bogdan of Mechanicsburg PA, Maryanne (Doug) Busch of Ludington MI, Rick (Suzy) Fritz of Petersburg, AK and David Fritz of Warwick, RI. He has 11 loving grandchildren and was recently blessed with his first great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas Fritz in Rochester and James Fritz in Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Sunny, who died February 7, 2008, his brother Howard Bud Fritz and sister, Grace Fritz Kuitems. Dick loved his God, his family and his country. He enjoyed saying the rosary, golf, poker, bowling, a good belly laugh and the occasional glass of scotch. He was a fine man with integrity and values. A Memorial Mass will be said at 10:30AM Saturday, October 25 at St Joseph Catholic Church, 400 East Simpson St, Mechanicsburg, PA. Friends may visit with the family at the Church one half hour before the service. Burial for both Dick and Sunny will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. The family is very grateful to the people of Bethany Village for the wonderful care they provided Dick and Sunny over the past two years. They are truly like a second family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Bethany Village Care Assurance Fund, 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
