Pat
It is almost a year since you went home, and still the pain remains. They say time heals all wounds. Some one should rewrite that to say time heals MOST wounds.

Honey,
My memories of you are forever wherever I go.
They are stored in bits & pieces, part of a beautiful whole.
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Honey I have memories in my heart, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.
Love You & only You forever

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My condolences to the whole Groth family. I worked with Pat at Brinks and got to know him real well not only as a co worker but a friend that would help you out any time you needed it. He will be truly missed by all but we all know he is in a much better place now looking down on all of us.

Dear Pat,
You were the best father-in-law a girl could ever ask for. I will miss you forever, but I know that you are no longer suffering and with God. When we meet again in heaven, we will sing karaoke together. The family is hanging in there, but everyone misses you terribly. Joe will miss stopping by to see you before work every night, he really loves you alot. You should be very proud of what a wonderful son, father and husband he is- you did a great job! I love you very much and will talk to you again soon.
Love Always,

Pat
I wrote you a song that I never got to play for you. Barb asked me to play it at your breakfast so I did. I truely hope YOU heard it.
While you were in the hospital, you wrote that I was your friend. Although that is true, you were so much more than that , and so you shall remain .Watching you go was almost the hardest thing I've ever done in my life second only to watching my own father pass some 25 years ago. These past few weeks brought all that pain back as well as the sadness of losing you. I could see the pain and cofussion on the faces of your wife and children, and although I felt a strong sense of lose I did not have the words to console them. hopefully they will read this, and somehow know that I feel deep sorrow for their lose. for the man some called "Papa" the man some called "Dad. For the man Barb called "Hon, for the man I called " FRIEND!!!
with much love
Kelly Knoop
this is your song
Shed No Tears
cancers come and got the best of me, there is nothing you can do.
all the things I said I'd strive to do, now my time is all but through
Chorus
shed no tears for me, I am mearly broken.there's a better place to be
take my memories, be my friend forever, until eternity
Bridge
have no worries I'll watch over you I promise
I'll let no harm come to you
be filled with happiness don't let evil possess you
it only can if you want it to
There's so much to do before I go, so many things to say as well
unspoken words and feeling that must flow, I hope you know I can not dwell
Chorus
walk away and don't look back again, I must do this on my own.
spread the love that I have given you ,I need to be here all alone
chorus , bridge.

Uncle pat, I will miss you very, very much! I have many memories that i will cherish forever. When I was young I had always thought of you as having all the "cool" fast cars with the loud motors and neon lights. I will never forget the time we went to the african lion safari and the monkeys tore off your chrome side door molding and took off onto the rocks to chew on it, you were such a good sport about it. I remember looking forward to you getting off of work so that you could come pick me up in your cool purple car and take me out to sunset bay to spend time with your family. The beach was always a good time also, just remember when I join you in heaven you promised to take me to Beaver Island beach when you felt better. I hear that in heaven there is no pain or suffering so I will be holding you to your word. Thankyou for being such a great uncle. We will forever be joined by god.

My deepest condolences to you. I have very fond memories of my childhood when Patty Michael and his brother Bert and and his sisters Annie and Suzy would come and play at our house. I remember Christmases with us all getting together. I remember Aunt Margie teaching me to make mashed potatoes. I prayed for Patty Michael as soon as I heard he was ill. I will continue to pray for you as well. Peace.
