To the Chapp Family,
So sad to hear the news of Irmela's passing. My thoughts are with you at this hard time.
She has left a lasting impression on myself and all parents at Northwood Elementary. I was one of the parents that volunteered to work with students prior to the school day. Students could choose new books/return books. It gave the students an opportunity to not only read more but interact with the parents/other students on what their interests were.
She made each parent feel special that participated in the library reading program.

Dear Paul and family,
I am one of Irmela's Grade School and Jr. High schoolmates. Even at that time, anyone who got to know her, sensed she was going to be someone special and impact many in this life. All the beautiful entries in this Memory Book proves it. Allow your tears and heartache, as difficult as this time is, to remind you that love does not die. Neither does Irmela's touch and smile upon all our lives.

I remember the day I met Mrs. Chapp. It was at Como Park Elementary School in Lancaster. Michelle brought Eliot in to visit with the teachers. We enjoyed our visit with him as he is such a precious little guy. Mr. and Mrs. Chapp (who graciously cared for him during the day) came in to pick Eliot up and made a short visit. I remember how striking your mom was. She looked as if she was an older sister rather than your mom. Your mom had a strong presence about her. Something I see in you Michelle. I know Mr. Chapp, Michelle and Andrea your hearts are really aching right now. In time I hope the many years of fond memories will be a source of comfort to you all. Death cannot take that away from you.

It's with great sadness that I'm writing this, but I should share that Mrs. Chapp was a great inspiration to me, from the day I walked into the library at Northwood. I remember being a little kid and thinking Mrs. Chapp was so cool because she could read upside down during story time (this is a big deal to a 5 year old, apparently). Then, when we moved upstairs for 3rd grade, I remember how Mrs. Chapp made us stand up and salute every time the Dewey Decimal system was mentioned. Mrs. Chapp's amazing qualities, personality and talents help lead me to choosing my current profession as a librarian (and a cataloger, to boot, who uses the Dewey Decimal system on occasion). I'm terribly sorry for her loss, and she will be missed greatly. All the best,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time for your family. May the fond memories you hold in your heart help you get through the days ahead. We first met Mrs. Chapp as the school librarian at Northwood, where her love of books and children welcomed our 2 daughters, Kristin and Molly, into the warm, cozy library with all the little rockers. As the years passed, we socially shared many enjoyable times with Paul and Irmela with mutual friends, the Seegers. My favorite memory will always be the wedding day of Amanda Seeger when Irmela and I wore the exact same dress to the reception. Also, we were seated at the same table!!! We both laughed and realized we had great taste!!! Irmela has touched many lives in so many different ways!!! Sincerely,
Kristin Dahl

Dear Michelle and Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Your mom has touched so many lives...mine included. Ever since I first met her at Northwood Elementary as a kindergartener, to recently seeing her at our school with your son! When I met you, Michelle, I saw your mom's spirit instantly, in you! May the special, happy times sustain you, and please know how much your mom has touched so many people. I will never forget her warmth, smile and laugh.

In loving memory of a wonderful, intelligent and warm-hearted person and a very creative, funny lady. We will love you and miss you always. You were a wonderful educator who gave so much to students and staff at East Middle. Who can forget the cat photos all over the library! How proudly you shared your grandchildren and family members with us via your computer screensaver and conversation! We are so sorry for this loss. God Bless You, Irmela, and sympathies to your husband and family.
