We will all miss Herbie. Here is a poem, written by Mary, dedicated to him.
Frank and Mary Davila
?Herbie
Leaf shaped teardrops
pile up beneath the maple tree.
Our hearts spill
from overflowing coffee mugs
on the walkway
leading to your porch.
Your warm smile lingers
over your favorite green chair,
melting away the frost.
Robins gather in V formation
above your roof,
singing a song of mourning.
The reds and blues of daylight
have mingled with the gray of night.
Yet, on our little street,
so empty without you,
a single red rose smiles
and looks up to heaven,
where the sitting king of our street
is spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ,
the King of all!

Uncle Herb..it was great to talk to you all those weeks while I was on active duty. It made the time away more tolerable. We had a lot of laughs and the time sure flew by. You had some great stories! I am glad Paul, my husband, got to meet you and joke around with you. He liked you a lot and was sorry we lived so far away. Say hi to all you meet and give them our love. Be seeing you again {smiling}.
