Mr. Newell was a man that I will never forget I had recently graduated one of his classes and as the first real fire class I had ever taken this one is stuck with me forever the kind words and great techings from his year of experiance will be put to good use through me and those i continue to interact with and help in my years of service to come I take it upon myself as an honor and a privalige to have been a part of his class

Bev, Rob, Jay and John -
I just wanted to thank you for allowing me the honor of being with you, first at Mercy, and then throughout the wake and funeral.
It was a tremendous privilege to honor Bob at his funeral and a gift to me to assist in my own healing process in losing Bob as a friend and mentor.
I pledge to honor his memory by always doing what's right for our fellow firefighters and the communities they serve.
I can only hope to live up to the standards he has set for us all. I will always be proud of my association with Robert E. Newell.
I cherished his friendship, his generosity, and the opportunity to get to know all of you.
May God bless your family and give you peace.

I knew Bob as a Special Agent with the IRS. He was a wonderful person to be your friend. If he cared for you, Bob would go out of his way to be there for you. I wish his family well and want them to know that Bob's close IRS friends loved him and appreciated him for his being the person you all have stated he was.
I will miss you Bob, My memories of you go way back. You were there at the start of my IRS career and you were with me when it ended. May you always rest in peace.

I will never forget the things Bob Newell taught me. Not only about firefighting, but about life. I remember a long conversation with Mr. Newell which started off about fire, then anti terrorism, but very quickly it turned to advice about life. Marriage, parenthood and dealing with loss. As much as he taught me in the classes I took with him, it was his talk about being a good husband and father that really hit home with me. He said to me " Al, all you really have to do is listen, really listen." Truer words were never spoken. He will be missed... Mrs. Newell, Jay, John, Rob, Cyndi and Violet we are so sorry for your loss. We are here for you and you are in our thoughts... Love, Al & Heather....

Mrs. Newell and Family, we are so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful man. Bev I worked with you at Moot & Sprague (Sharon Michalek) and my husband has taken many classes that your husband has taught over the years. He was just at the OSHA class that Mr. Newell taught. I have seen his name so many times over the past years but did not connect with you until someone in the fire company called and told him that Bob has passed away. So sorry for your lost. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. As the brother firemen would say God now needs him to run their Fire Department now.

Words are hard to express at this time of loss. Bob was an excellent firefigher, instructor and a good friend. He always had a kind word to say and a smile on his face. We were shocked about Bobs passing as was everyone else who knew him. What a beautiful tribute to Bob the kind & gentle family man, friend and instructor. May God greet him and welcome him back home. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. You will have a special angel watching over you always and he will never stop loving all of you. God Bless.

A memory that makes me smile- Uncle Bob was on the dance floor at our wedding in August 07 as he promised. His feet moved so fast there was no way to keep up with him.
also, New Years Eve 2007/08, I will not forget the conversation I had with Uncle Bob as he went into great detail on the importance of family and how proud he was of his sons, all the time looking at them as they were holding their new born children. He was so proud of his family. We will miss you Uncle Bob!

Our Deepest Sympathy and regret go out to Mrs. Newell and The Newell Family. His son Jason and I have been friends since kindergarten and we grew up together. Jason was like the brother I never had. I have known his family almost all of my life. Mr. Newell to me was like a 2nd father. Someone you could talk to and get advise from on just about anything. He was also a good listener too, to someone like myself who had questions about many things in life. He was there to give helpful advise to anyone who was seeking guidance and would listen. He would help you out the best way he could through his life expierence. His way of life has touched many and he will always be seen as a role model for the commuinty that he lived in and the people who he touched. He will never be forgotten. He will be sadly missed by those who have fond memories of him. Love,

Bob was also my Firefighter 1 teacher, like many of us and he always made it fun to go to class and learn. He loved the fire service and I will never forget the last day of class when he gave us our shirts, he was so excited to have a new group of educated firefighters with the strength of his knowledge.
He also gave out truck cards, much like a baseball card, for getting your gear on in the required time...I still have that card in my truck and my class ended June 2006.
He will be missed, but in no way forgotten. Thank you for everything you did Bob.

Bob was the first instructor I ever had when I was a younger firefighter. After 30, plus years in the Fire Service, Bob was a great instructor, mentor, story teller, far too many for us the tell. Bob ran the annual "Boot Camp" at the Fire Academy in Cheektowaga during the summer months, it was a very successful course, Bob ran a tight ship. Bob always offered his time for the next class, in between the vacations he took with his family, after his retirement he dedicated his free time to teaching the firefighters of Erie County, We will miss Bob every day a new fire training schedule is even thought of. Not seeing his name on the roster, or his many phone calls to the Fire Safety office looking for his books.
Bob, Thank You for everything you did for the Fire Service in Erie County!

To Bev, John, Robbie and Jason
I cannot begin to tell you how shocked I was to receive your phone call last night.
Our thoughts and prayers will be with you while you begin to heal. Today has been a day for remembering, and even though I am saddened by the loss of a brother, I cannot help smiling at the memories that we made. It was an amazing time out on the cutting edge with Fire Rescue Service
Distance may have separated us, but
we will always be bound together by the brotherhood.
Rest easy, Good and faithful servant, your work here is done. Your memory will continue shine every time a firefighter dons his gear and heads out. Every time a veteran teaches a rookie something that he heard once, long ago, in a course. And as long as there is a Fire Department.

Mr. Newell was a wonderful man that will never be forgotten. I am glad that I had the chance to know him since I met his son John in 7th grade. He always cracked me up everytime I would call their house to talk to John. No matter what time of day it was "Good Morning" was the way that he answered the phone. I'll never forget how proud he was to see his son John get married to Violet...he had a smile on his face the whole day. I'm glad that I got to tell him how much I enjoyed talking with him and what a great man I thought he was at John and Violet's house in December. My deepest sympathies go out to the Newell family and all that are near and dear to him. He will be missed.

Mr. Newell was the father of one of my closest, and oldest friends John. I will always remember Mr. Newell as a model father, husband and family man. I can see the traits he instilled into my close friend John as he has become a tremendous family man before my eyes. Those traits can also be found in his other sons Jason and Rob. He served the community in his role with the fire department for many years, and many people owe him a great deal of thanks for that passion of his. My thoughts go out to all of the Newell family as well as any other individuals who are lucky enough to have formed a relationship with Mr. Newell. Peace and love always.

Mr. Newell was my firefighter one instructor...He was such a caring man, he helped me work through my greatest fear...hights. I remember when we had to climb the ladder truck he walked up right behind me holding my pack telling me that it is all in my head...i made it to the top...and he was right. I was okay.
Mr. Newell's passing was a complete shock to me, I moved about 6 hours away for a job and my brother called me to let me know. My words can not express how sorry I am for this loss. I know Mr. Newells family and close friends are going through a tough time right now, my DEEPEST sympathy goes out to you. Please know that he did leave a lasting impression in the lives of MANY of us. He will always be remembered, and sincerely missed!
