I know this is many years later, but I was thinking about Tom recently. We went to school together at Kent State, took a number of radio broadcasting courses at the same time and went on to work together at WHBC. We also worked as nightclub DJ's together at the former Merry-Go-Round in Canton back in 1977. So many great memories. And Tom DJ'd my 25th high school reunion at St. Thomas Aquinas. We jumped off the speakers at the same time! Just like he used to do at the Merry-Go-Round. Keep spinnin' em up there, Tom! Rest easy!

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Tom. Back when I was little he was the reason I got into radio. I had the chance to work with him at WZKL and got the chance to become friends with him and learn about life and faith from him. His fight with cancer was an inspiration. He told me about the book he wanted to write. Unfortunately I lost touch with him and I was devestated to hear about his death. Tom was a good man and a good friend and now he is home and doesn't have to suffer anymore. I miss you my brother and may God hold you and your family close.

Tom, you had more energy than anyone I ever knew. I don't know how you did it but you always made your listeners feel good about themselves.
That is a mark of a true professional.

Tom,

I believe you are up there looking down on us with your irrepressible, cheerful spirit. I was just a kid when we first met. And while a lot of the jocks didn't have time for the crazy little intern, you always were so encouraging and helpful.

And when I ran into you and you told me of your struggle with cancer, you were still ever the optimist. It was as if nothing could get you down. And if more people would choose to follow your lead -- one thing is for sure, the world would be a far more pleasant place!

God bless your family Tom!

A D.J. never really dies because so many people remember things he said, things he did, things that made other peoples' lives nicer. Tom brought a lot of good feelings to a lot of people for a lot of years. That is a truly blessed life.

my condolences to tom's family. i worked with tom at wkdd back in the 80's. he taught me how to splice tape, record tags, cart up music, and make airchecks. i filled in for him on the air many times over the years. he used to call himself "that little ardvark on the radio" and he would say "group therapy with the doctor". my favorite recordings of him are the ones from the old M-105. rest in peace. rockin rick allen

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of such a wonderful person. Tom was such a pleasure to know and I have many good memories of conversations we had over the years. My Deepest Sympathy to the Family. I never met this person, but was one of his many radio fans. I would listen to his program as often as time would allow me to tune in. There was something about him. He was REAL; nothing fake about him. I just loved listening to him...what a personality! I often laughed at the things he said on-air. God Rest, good person. You did your job here well. And thank you for the many times you gave comforting words to so many people.

A Big Fan,

Debbie and girls, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I had the great privilege of working with Tom for a short time at WNPQ in 2005, and learned so much from him. Sometimes how we live through difficult times is much more of a testimony than how we live when everything is going our way. Tom's tremendous courage and enthusiastic love of the Lord Jesus throughout his battle with cancer were an inspiration. In one of his last emails to me, he said, "Suzie -- My cancer is going to go away entirely. I know it!" Well -- he was right. A completely whole Tom has now fought the good fight and won. And Heaven just got a little louder -- and even more fun.

Dear Emily, Greg and Family
I only had the pleasure of meeting your father on one occassion, your wedding day. I remember the beautiful speech he made right before the tradional father/daughter dance. The words conveyed the love for both of his daughters and how proud he was of you and your sister. Shortly after that I heard the news of his condition. He is without pain now. And know that God has another angel with him. I hope the beautiful memories of your father gives you the strength to get by these difficult times. And know he is watching over you with love and admiration. I will keep the entire family in my thoughts and prayers.
With all my love,
Melissa Bickler

You entertained us for many years, your courage inspired us for the past several years. Getting to know you personally and the love you showed for the Lord encouraged many. Your sharing of "Woody", your beautiful red classic Camaro, at all the car shows and cruise-ins was terrific! You even impressed this Mustang guy. We will miss you, but we are pleased you're at peace in your heavenly home. See ya later friend....

To Tom's family and friends, our most heartfelt condolences at this time of loss for all of you. Pastor Bill & Dianne

I worked with Tom during his second round at WHBC. Tom made it clear that God was his source of strength. It's comforting to know that he can be with his Lord and Savior at the biggest birthday party of the year. Have a piece of cake for me, Tom!

I worked with Tom at WHBC-FM. He became a long time friend. We would catch up several times a year and speak as if we never missed a day. He was an honest, fun and kind person...He had a burning passion about radio, his love for god, his family and biking. I know he will be missed by many, but mostly remembered for the smiles he put on our faces.
