Father Rich first entered my life when I was a youngster at Immaculate Conception, his first assignment. He has impacted my life all these long years. I could never forget him even though we lived many miles apart these last ten years. Surely God has a special place for him in heaven, and I suspect that place is very near the Blessed Mother.

I'll never forget Fr. Richard, and the respect that he commanded from the altar boys in 1974-75. I remember him as a disciplinarian, yet a gentle, kind man. He always had a great sense of humor, and showed compassion to everyone. God Bless Father Richard! He was a wonderful servant of God

Dear Uncle Richie:

I will miss you so very much! I hope God gives you a tight hug like you always gave us & tells you how very much he loves you & is grateful for helping his children learn about Jesus & Mary. I hope he has you teaching all the children in heaven who did not live long enough to learn about Jesus & Mary. I will always remember you bringing the children up to sing "Happy Birthday" and "We Love You, We Do" to baby Jesus on Christmas. I will remember your sweet smile, jokes and "to be nice to everyone." I will remember our last phone conversation - teasing me again! I will remember you giving my family "the bath" of holy water during Easter Basket Blessings - I'll miss that next week! I will remember all the laughs at family events. I know you are our angel now looking over us. I hope you now realize how very much you are loved by everyone & the impact you made in our lives. You will always be in our hearts & prayers. We will do our very best to live what you taught us. And I guess you won our bet!

It's been years since I attended church or school at St. Cyril's in Lemont. When I was in grade school there, Father Richard was probably a part of every day for me. He said our daily morning masses and then Sunday masses, as well. There are 2 things that I remember most about Father Richard. The first is how he would bless us and send us off with a joke before school field trips. The second, and most important, thing was the hugs we would get from him after mass (and how nice he always smelled!). I am sorry that I couldn't make it to his services because I live across the country. I will always remember him fondly as "Father Richard."

Just to say that On this St. Paddy's day it's only fitting I wish that the road rise up to meet you and the wind be always at your back and may you be in heaven Father Richard a half an hour before the devil knows your dead! Being an Irish Family at St. John Of God wasn't easy at all, we NEVER were considered "IN" or fit in but I'll never forget one day in Religion class you praised me for being the ONLY ONE who knew the complete sign of the cross and for that I'm grateful..so Father Richard (as we at St. John Of God used to call you) Godspeed.....and Erin Go Bragh

Growing up attending St. Cyril's, I recall Fr. Richard calling all the children up to the church's Nativity to sing "Happy Birthday" to the baby Jesus statue every Christmas. At the end of the song, we all blew a kiss to Jesus. God bless you, Fr. Richard. Today we blow a kiss to you.

We will really miss your sweet smile on your face every time we saw you. Somehow we all knew that if you were saying mass that day you would have us laughing at some point with your quick wit. We will all miss your great sense of humor.

We first meet in my freshmen year 1962 and what a remarkable man you were. You guided so many young people lending an ear and always a kind word. We lost touch over the years but were able to rekindle that friendship the last couple of years and I thank God for that. The Heaven's are a little brighter with you in it. I'll miss our visits.

We will all miss Father Rich!!!

He was always ready to tell a

story or a joke. If memory serves

me right he was one heck of a SANTA.

God will watch over him as Father

Rich watches over us. We are sorry

that we are unable to go to the

services. GOD BLESS!

Though I was a parishoner of St. Michael's church in Orland Park, I did appreciate attending the Crowning of the Blessed Mother at the grotto at St. Cyril & Methodius church in Lemont. I am sure our Blessed Lady was there with her Beloved son to welcome you to Heaven and to thank you for the honors you paid to her. I will remember you in my prayers.

I was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Grammar School - Class of 1949. So sorry to hear about Father Richard's death. Although I had not seen him in years, he was always in my thoughts because he left me with beautiful memories as our chaplain for the Sodality of Mary at Immac. Conception. On our wedding day in July of 1955, we visited him at St. Florian's. He was a "special" priest here on earth, and I know he will be a "special" angel in heaven as well. May he rest in peace.

Father Richard, thank you for the "Teen Society" and the Sodality of Our Lady. You are remembered with deep affection and gratitude. May God welcome you home and richly reward you for the love and guidance you gave to the teens at Five Holy Martyrs Parish so many years ago. God love you--we will never forget you.
