JOSEPH JOHN POCZATEK

Joseph John Poczatek, 87; beloved son of the late Jozef and late Katarzyna nee Uchacz; devoted husband of Felicia, nee Bieszczad; loving father of Kathryn Ann, Jeff (Renée) and Susan (Brian) Foley; doting grandfather of Liam Poczatek, Patrick, Cullen, Aidan and Maeve Foley; fond brother of the late Walter, late Stephanie and late Sophie; fond Brother-in-law of Gene (late Jane) Mroz. Joseph was a graduate of the University of Illinois, former Senior Scientific Engineer for GATX Corp., who worked on the NASA Lunar Landing Module Leg Project, and helped to develop the modern day Post Office zipcode reading machines. Following his retirement from GATX, Joseph was the Village of Skokie Plumbing Inspector, and he also co-owned Parks' Plumbing and Sewer Inc. with his son Jeff and wife Felicia. He also had the distinction of surviving a United Airlines crash landing in 1967. He delighted all with his dry wit and warm smile, and he will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Funeral Wednesday, October 27 at 9:15 a.m., from COLONIAL- WOJCIECHOWSKI FUNERAL HOME , 6250 N. Milwaukee, to St. Mary of the Woods Church, Mass 10 a.m. Interment St. Adalbert.
