Miss you Dad - #3
May 2, 2011
Almost 65 years ago I came to Chicago from Northern Wisconsin to attend Loyola Law School. I met John J, (Jack) Cassidy Jr. His parents John & Margaret made sure I was a frequent guest for Sunday dinner. In the process of being virtually adopted by the John Cassidys I got to know Uncle Leo. and his family. He was a delightful and generous man and always fun to be with such as the winter sports in the Billy Caldwell Preserve. It was my privledge to have know him. I join in your clelbration of his life. Dear Leo: Congratulations, you had a great run. Memories of our intermittent times together include you, or was it Bernie, with his head in our sink in Los Angeles about 1935. 2. Your amusing antics at Ft. Belvoir VA during WW2 with cousin Colonel Bill Cassidy in charge.
3.And an exhilarating day at Yankee Stadium about 1950 with you, Bernie, Billie and me at a Notre Dame/North Carolina game. We loved the continual chanting of "All the Way Choo, Choo" for All American Charlie Justice of the Tarheels.
4. And, finally, for treating me and my folks like royalty when you met us at LaSalle Street station on our trips to and from L.A. to NYC.
Rest in Peace, dear friend,
Love from cousin Jim Kaufman
