Edwin Joseph Sterba, of LaGrange Park, beloved husband of Lydia; loving father of Ronald (Joan) and Doreen (Brad) Sterba Dezur; proud grandfather of Chuck Ferber, Corinna Smutny, Robert and Alex Jones; fond great-grandfather of Colby Jones, Zaiden and Athan Ferber; dear uncle of Jan (Robin) Smutny-Jones and Corvan (Susie) Jones. Visitation 3 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Private interment at Bronswood Cemetery, Memorial Service 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the First Presbyterian Church, 150 S. Ashland Ave., LaGrange. Edwin was a Captain in the Army Air Corps; active member of his church; board member of the West Suburban Symphony and the LaGrange Community Nurse Association. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society appreciated. 708-352-6500

Our deepest sympathies to Lydia, Doreen and the entire Sterba family. Ed was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We consider ourselves honored and enriched to have known Ed.
