Robin that is a great memory. Thank you so much for sharing. I was there at all his matches with our father, and I remember those wrestlers from EGHS. I met a star football player from EGHS from that same class that went on to play at Wake Forest. We have become very good friends over the last 20 years, and he has the exact same birthday as Tim. What a coincidence. His name is Don Weadley. I am sure you have heard of him. God Bless you.

I knew of Tim throughout a few years during my High School days. (I was a year younger than Tim & never knew him personally - sad to say!) I went to Elk Grove High School & My favorite Sport to watch in H.S & beyond was Wrestling! I was in the group of girls from Elk Grove H.S. called the "Wrestlerettes." No, we weren't Cheerleaders, but we aided in setting up the mats & Floor Score Boards in the gym with our guys for EGHS home Meets. We gals recorded all the Scores in the official Score Books during each weight class. Multiple mats going at same times..and each separate Mat had a gal sitting outside each mat, changing the points on a big white sign for all to see during each Match. When the Referees called each point (s) for Takedowns etc, we were recording each move & point(s). We also traveled to each Meet on the Bus to keep Scores. We went to all the Tournaments & Wrestling Championships Downstate etc. I loved it! We had a few really Great Wrestlers Like Rick Morris & Craig Mann at EGHS. I kept Books for the lower weight classes & different High School Levels.( Sorry - long Winded!!) >>>
My Favorite Favorite person to watch or Score was when we Wrestled St. Viator... & at the Tournaments & Downstates, because I was such a Great Fan of your Dear Timothy! . He was indeed one of the Greatest H.S. Wrestlers of my times. I was recently reflecting on the past & looking up people I knew of online & read of Tim's passing here & about he & his wonderful Children & life & personality & Humor.
I cried & cried . And I saw that Lovely picture of him posted here. I just wanted to extend to you all, his wonderful Family / Sweet Children & Friends, that you have a Precious Angel above, that I will never Forget. All my Love & Sympathies to you all + to Tim's Brother Stephen, whom I saw so many Beautiful entries here & also Tim's Friends, Family & St. Viator Friends for whom I learned a little more about this Wonderful Person that I never had a chance to know!! God BlessRobin P.

Marwitz family,
A good memory popped into my head that I wanted to share. In 1977 or so, Tim was 18 or 19 years old and a true 'last second' addition to the substantial driving trip from Chicago to Mary's parents vacation home in Palm Coast, Florida. No SUVs or minivans in those days, and it wasn't a station wagon. Kind of just a regular-sized car. 6 or 7 passengers, four Ulbrichs, Mary, Tim, and maybe another. Two rows, sometimes three in front seat row, sometimes four in backseat row. Two Ulbrich kids under 10. Maybe close to 30 hours of driving each way near literally on each others laps. Tim decided to spend the time keeping us kids occupied. Endless Bears and Cubs talk, discussion on Jimmy Carter presidential performance, best 1976 Olympics moments, new junk food suggestions at gas station, tips on succeeding in school, a new swear word or two, then terrible bribes on how long we could hold it, so less bathroom stops.
I loved him like a brother and miss him. I especially wish he was here for big events like his daughter Missy's upcoming wedding but I know he is looking down on all, especially proud of his kids.
Much love,
Stephen Marwitz

Funny how a song will bring back such strong memories it seems like yesterday.
Jackson Browne's The Pretender is one of my all time favorites and when I play it I remember Junior singing along with his grin. And his eyes, so full of life, enjoying the moment and celebrating the joy of being together in the Kappa Sig house. What a bright light he brought.

I never realized Tim was 4 years older than me may his soul rest in peace.
He made trading more fun we had a lot of laughs.
Looked out for other while most were selfish.

Tomorrow will be 8 years that you left us. Sometimes it seems like a long time ago and other times it seems like yesterday. Our father just passed away last month on his birthday so you have plenty of good company with Grandma & Grandpa and Mom and Dad. We are going to celebrate his life and I know we will be thinking of all of them including you on that day. God Bless.

Marwitz family,
I am so sorry for your loss of Tim's dad Ron. What a nice man, and life well lived. A posted picture of Ron gave me a chuckle on how Ron's son Tim was called junior' over sharing the same distinguished nose. Then I smiled at the thought that those two nice men are reunited.
My sincere condolences,

I had a very vivid dream about Tim yesterday. I miss him every day, and some memory that makes me giggle out loud pops into my head at least once a week.
That man did so much for me (big and small), at every stage of my life. I thought the intensity of how much I miss him would decrease as the months/years pass by -- that hasn't happened.
His biggest legacy is his kids, who seem to really have a great mixture of the good qualities of both parents.
Thinking about his kids, parents, siblings, grandmother, and Mary.
Love,

To the Marwitz Family,
I would of never missed his services in a million years if i would of heard this news. I retired from the mercantile in 2000 and never really stayed in touch with many traders. Your father was so nice everyday. I stood right next to him everyday. He made me laugh and he tried to help many, many people. He had integrity that not many traders had !!!! I could tell you so many great stories about timmy. I am again just shocked over your loss and am so sorry for bringing it up after so much time has passed !!! Oh my god life is sometimes so short !!! I just lost my mother sept 12, 2012 i feel your loss !!
God Bless his family and children

To the Marwitz Family,
My heart drops after hearing the news about timmy !!
We traded together for 10 to 15 years everyday in the pork belly pit . He was one of my favorite people that i ever met at, the mercantile exchange . I am not just saying that, he always tried to look out for me as i did for him. We laughed everyday for over 10 years !! He had a smile everyday even with all the stress we endured. My heart aches to think he is gone . I found out not long ago about his loss. God sometimes takes away the real good people in this world. I pray his family has found some peace remembering how many people loved (WZ) timmy. We all called him timmy !! God Bless you my good friend. Brad Manzara aka ( ZA)

I only heard about Tim, yesterday. What sad news. We were fraternity brothers at Illinois. He was always full of fun. I drew his name for our Christmas gag gift party one year. I can still remember comparing him to Robert Redford. There were some similarities--sort of. I'll always remember him.

To the Marwitz Family ,
My deepest condolences to you all. Just read in the St.Viator Alumni Newsletter about Tim... Great guy, many fond memories of Tim's wit and humor in class and of his wrestling excellence... he emulated the words that Coach Zid had painted on the walls of the ( hole ) practice room, " Desire Makes A Winner" ! Tim certainly was all of that! ...God Bless.

A Remembrance
Tim was like a bantam rooster
Small but always determined and resilient
I was blessed to be able to watch him grow as person and a wrestler at St. Viators
His attitude, demeanor and perseverance gave me as much joy
as watching my own offspring grow and develop as athletes
I will always fondly remember him as one of those very special people
known as Zid’s Kids.

Dear Marwitz Family:
Tim first came to my attention some time during 1968 while attending St. James Junior High. He was a basketball player and the brother of my classmate (John).
We later became wrestling teammates at St. Viator High School. Tim was one of the finest wrestlers in the history of the school. He was very well qualified for the honor of entering the St. Viator Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. He compiled 70 varsity level wins over 3 years. Senior year his record was 26 wins and 2 losses. He was the District Tournament Champion and Suburban Catholic Conference Champion at the 119 pound weight class senior year (1974). He was the 98 pound Suburban Catholic Conference Champion and State Sectional tournament qualifier in 1973. Senior year he was voted "Most Valuable" by his teammates.
Tim was also a "scholar athlete" and graduated at the top of his class in 1974.
He was more than all of these accomplishments, but they are noteworthy and part of his history.
I was better for knowing him and celebrate his amazing life.

To Mary & the entire Marwitz family~
We share in your sorrow and will forever hold his memories close. Mary being my best friend most of my life, I sort of adopted Tim as one too. For the past 40 years through HS, College & Kids when Tim walked in a room it would be with a smile larger than life. We always knew at that moment that we were in for a laugh with his wonderful wit, intelligence & humor. Megan, Matt & Missy know how truely wonderful your Dad was and how proud he was of each of you. Take pride in his accomplishments in life. I know you will continue to make him proud.
All our love & prayers,

Megan, Matt, Melissa, and Mary, I am incredibly sad for your loss. Tim loved all of you so much, and I know that you will always love him. Having been one of us Minton "in-laws," he added the specialness of himself to any family gathering. Circumstances changed thoughout the years, but that never changed the devotion he had to his family.
To Tim's parents and siblings--you were fortunate to have him in your family. He emerged from it a beautiful man. He will be missed sorely.
