K. BAKER Obituary

K. Donald Baker, age 87, of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Naperville, IL and Minocqua, WI, peacefully passed away May 2, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 7, 1924 in Earlville, IL. Beloved husband for 51 years to Carol Baker, nee Erikson; and cherished father of Scott Baker (Lynn) of Naperville, IL and Elayne Baker of Monmouth, IL; dearest grandfather of Crystal Wensel (Dustin), Rachel Plimpton, Kenneth Plimpton, Samantha Baker and Leanne Baker; great-grandfather of Garrett Wensel and Albanie Grino. Preceded in death by his parents Newton and Edna Baker; sisters Lucille Baker and Julia Davis (Bill); brothers N. Orrin Baker (Garda) and James Baker (Julia). Don was a US Air Corp Veteran. He was a 1948 graduate of the University of Illinois and a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Don joined the State Mutual insurance agency after college and achieved a CLU designation. He remained in the insurance industry for over 60 years. Don also served on the board of directors for AAA Chicago Motor Club for 20 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Plymouth Congregational Church, 24022 W. Lockport St., Plainfield, IL 60544. Memorial visitation will be Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL 60540. The Memorial Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Road, Plainfield, IL 60544. For more info.
