EUGENE L. ROBERTS

Eugene L. Roberts, age 74, of Ashland WI, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center, in Duluth, MN. He was born May 9, 1936, in Chicago, IL, the son of George and Myrtle (Engstrom) Roberts. He graduated from Leyden High School, in Franklin Park, IL and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving with distinction from 1955 - 1959. On July 2, 1960, Eugene married Mary Hill, in Herbster, WI and resided in Franklin Park. He worked for M & M Mars Incorporated, in Chicago, IL until his retirement in 1980. He was a firearms enthusiast and enjoyed sports, volunteering as a local Pee Wee Football coach and following the Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks and White Sox. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his children said that he was the best dad a kid could ever have. He is survived by his wife, Mary, Ashland; three children, Kristine Roberts, Ashland, Britt (Daroyl) Roberts Brown, Maurertown, VA and Dallas Roberts, Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren, Tanner Smugala, Morgan Roberts and Theodore Brown. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
