RICHARD SULLIVAN Obituary
Dr. Richard K. Sullivan died May 5, 2011 at Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center. He was born April 23, 1944 in Chicago, IL. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Kathleen Hogin Sullivan; his children Julie Sullivan (James) Doherty from Elmhurst, and Bryan (April Ehret) Sullivan from Western Springs. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren; Fiona, Bridget, Keira, Mary, Joe, Stephen and Caroline. He is survived by one brother James Sullivan and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father E. J. Sullivan and mother Marie Sullivan. Dick practiced dentistry for 35 years before moving to Scottsdale, AZ. He also served in the US Army and was active in numerous service organizations. Dick loved the game of golf and enjoyed spending time with his many true friends whom he will be waiting to welcome home. Memorial Visitation at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, May 15. Memorial Mass 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 16 at Immaculate Conception Church, 134 Arthur, Elmhurst. Interment Private. My husband Robert ( golf buddy ) passed just after Dick. And Kathy too. They are certainly all together now. May they rest in peace .

Dear Kathy, Bryan, Julie and family, I am so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. The 5 years I worked for him are truly some of the best memories I have. Dick was a wonderful man. I just learned tonight of his passing. I am so sorry for your tremendous loss.

Dr. Sullivan was our family dentist for years in Elmhurst and we all loved him.
I remember one Halloween night back many years ago when my nephew was just a little boy -- maybe four years old or so. He had a really bad toothache after eating too much of the trick-or-treat candy. My sister called the office and left a message and Dr. Sullivan called back and said to meet him at the office. Dr. Sullivan made the toothache go away. And I remember even the Bears were playing that night, too!!

I am so sorry for your loss. He was the first dentist I worked for when I got out of dental assisting school. He was not only a wonderful boss but a wonderful, funny friend. I am deeply saddened to hear of Dick's passing. I hold such great memories, and am proud to have been a member of his dental practice. He was a perfectionist in his work, it was an honor to have had the opportunity to work with him.
I will always remember my time spent with Dick, Kathy, Bryan, & Julie.

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Sullivan. Our prayers are with you at this most troubling time.
When Dr. Sullivan retired I was very saddened by his departure. He alone was responsible for the elimination of any fear that I had on having dental work done. He was a master at dentistry! And when I had an office visit, he always took the time to ask how I and my family were doing.

Kathy, I was saddened to hear of Dick's passing He lived across the street on Thatcher growing up and we were good buddies through high school. I remember fondly when you two were dating and that I passed out during your wedding ceremony! Sorry to have lost touch over the years. Our prayers are with you in this difficult time. He will always be remembered to me as a terrific guy who not surprisingly went on to a successful career in dentistry (my son in law is a dentist in NYC) and by all accounts was a great dad and grandfather.
