Beloved husband of Esther, nee Zielke; loving father of Vernon (Mairead), Norman (Bonnie); fond grandfather of Peter, Amy (Matthew), Jessica (Dave), Matthew, Tatiana (Tim), and Anna; great-grandfather of nine. Funeral services, Friday, 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church York Center, Lombard. Visitation, Thursday, 2 to 8:30 p.m., at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard. I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. It's comforting to know that God cares for all of us. The Bible gives us hope that one day we can see our loved ones again. On behalf of all mankind Jesus surrendered his soul. John 15:13 says “No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul on behalf of his friends.” Truly I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dear loved one and I hope these few words will bring you comfort and hope.

Seeing the picture of that handsome young marine reminded me of his courting days and the secret escape he and Esther made during their wedding reception. As you work through these difficult days I know all of you will have many favorite memories to store in your hearts too.
