Edward F. Gilligan, age 76, Army Veteran, longtime resident of Elmhurst, currently of Bensenville, beloved husband of Michael Jane, nee Anderson; loving father of Mary, Ann (Phil) Sidock, Edward (Daisy), Jane (Jeff) Baker, Patti (Bob) Schwerdle, Jim (Lisa), Julie and Tom (Jessy) and the late Connie; loving grandfather of Nora, Rebecca, Dominic, Samantha, Emily Jacob, Kevin, Noah, Eric, Rudi, Hannah, Patrick, Sadie, Connie, Rosie, Suzy and Clary; dear brother of Don Gilligan and Lynn Cummings. Visitation Friday, 3 until 8 p.m. and Saturday, 8:15 a.m. until time of funeral 9:15 a.m., at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road (1/2 mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Bensenville. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside. Ed Gilligan will be in my Communion Prays at St. Patricks Church (oldest Catholic Church, 1837, in McHenry County)in Hartland, Harvard, IL. tomorrow. I never met Ed, but we have the same name and there was an Ed Gilligan in Rockford, plus my son Ed. My father also was Ed Gilligan. My father was from Bally Glass, County Mayo, as was my mother and mother in law. May God Bless Ed and all of you, in this difficult time. Edward F. Gilligan Sr., Harvard, IL.
