F. Snyder Obituary

F. James Snyder, age 83, of Lansing, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. He is survived by 4 children: Larry (Terri) Snyder, Cheryl, nee Snyder (Thomas) Senesac, Judy, nee Snyder (Hershel) Ewer, and Jean Marie, nee Snyder (David) Oakes. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Kelly (Timothy) Weiss, Daniel Snyder, Matthew Senesac, Brandon (Alison) Senesac, Erika Ewer and Sadie Rose Oakes; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and William Senesac. Jim was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lola J. Snyder. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 11 a.m., at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 2 to 9 p.m. A Masonic service will be held on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. A committal service with military honors will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, at a later date. Jim proudly served his country as a member of the Army during WW II and the Air Force during the Korean War and enjoyed his membership in the VFW Post #7660 and the American Legion Post #697. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, serving as Past Master of Gresham Lodge #1052 in 1959, a current member of Arcadia Lodge #1138, and a 33 Degree member, Valley of Chicago, Scottish Rite. Among many other past Masonic activities he served as Captain of Company A of the Medinah Arab Patrol. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Dr. Des Plaines, IL 60018. www.abta.org
