Auntie Carmen will continue to live in our hearts and conversations. She truly welcomed people into her life and home with open arms -- such a kind & inclusive woman. A great hostess, a wonderful aunt, a seasoned cook, a charming lady ... and a special someone who shared her life so generously with us. We will miss Auntie Carmen here but look forward to being reunited with her someday in heaven as her faith promises. In the meantime, we are all better off for having her in our lives ... and Jewels will grow up getting to hear about her aunt as we try to recreate some of those delicious recipes she shared with us. We are better off for having Auntie Carmen touch our lives in so many, many ways.

Energetic and lively to the end, dear friend, gentle spirit, great cook, Cousin Carmen will be missed.

What can I possibly say to comfort John and Nancy and their families who have had so much sorrow in such a short time? My thoughts and prayers are also with Silvio, Mary and Jennie, and their families, who have always been part of our extended family. Losing Carmen makes us all feel a little less intact.
