Erika Herbert Obituary

Erika Elizabeth Schmidt Kirschner Herbert March 6, 1922 - July 21, 2006 Former Resident of Concord Erika was born in Germany and came to the United States at the age of 2 with her parents, Paul and Alma Schmidt, and her older brother, Paul. She was raised in Concord and graduated from Mt. Diablo High School with the class of 1940. She married John Kirschner of Pittsburg on June 27, 1940. After John's death in 1972, she married Robert Herbert of Concord and enjoyed life with him until his passing in 1989. Erika was most known for her positive outlook on life. She was also kind, hardworking, and fun-loving and will be greatly missed by her three children and their spouses. Sandy and Mike Sousa, John and Mickey Kirschner, and Peggy and Steve DeMello. She has 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Paul, and a sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and MB Adams, along with may nieces and nephews. Her parents, her sister and brother-in-law Luella and Angelo Maggi, and her sister-in-law Adella Schmidt predeceased her. A memorial service will be held at Bryan & Moore Chapel on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deputy Sheriffs Association, Attention: Terri, 1780 Muir Road, Martinez, CA 94553, or the American Cancer Society, 1885 Oak Park Boulevard, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.
