Charles Mugler Obituary
Survivors include his wife, Lydia P. Mugler; two sons, Charles W. "Chuck" Mugler Jr. of Richmond and Mark P. Mugler and his wife, Stephanie of Virginia Beach; one grandson, Garrett T. Mugler; and his sister, Marguerite Taylor Jones of Hampton.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11a.m. Tuesday, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. William R. Kyle Jr. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

The Mugler Family,

Prior to my retirement at General Motors, I met Charlie while he was working at Suttle. It was such a pleasure to know him. His smile and quick wit always made my day more pleasurable.

Even though you do not know me, i am the receptionist at suttle motors and i wanted you to know how truely special Charlie was to me. Everyday i would look for his head to peak around the corner so he could make some funny remark or look and one of his many stories that kept me in tears. We are so sad to hear of Charlie's death. You and Charlie were the life of the party back in May at our class reunion. What a shock this must be to you. It surely is to us. He looked so healthy and happy in May.

I worked with Charlie at Kashouty VW while still in high school. Charlie was always quick with a smile and a chuckle. He could find something funny in any situation. The staff there were as close and friendly as anyplace I've worked since. Charlie was a big part of that. I'm deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I considered him a friend and I'll miss him. He always had a smile. I'm sure he still does up there. I feel like I'm a better person for meeting and knowing Charlie. Godspeed my friend and to the family I offer my condolences.

Lydia, Chuck and Mark,
Charlie was somebody that you couldn't sum up in a few words. If you knew Charlie, you knew that you could always expect the unexpected from him, usually something worth a chuckle or even a belly laugh. Even though he was the worrier in the family, and I mean he worried about everything, he was always coming up with a clever remark to laugh about. Friends will be repeating his corny jokes and witty remarks for years to come. Charlie will never die in the minds of those who loved him. He was a true friend.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I talked to Chuck on the 2nd of August, while I was vacationing at Nags Head. After that conversation, the realization hit me that my very first trip ever to Nags Head was with Chuck and Charlie. I remember it so clearly now, as if it was yesterday. I'm deeply saddened by Charlie's passing. I can remember so many things about you guys. I remember Charlie often wore a white navy belt with his jeans and I liked it so much I went and bought one. I actually bought a new one just a few months ago. I'm certain that mine is only one of many many lives Charlie touched. He will be fondly remembered always!

I am so sorry and saddened by Charlies passing.The memories come flooding back of the many family vacations spent together at the beach. I most remember Charlies' good humor (do you remember the time he got bombed by seagulls?), your rice krispie treats and the way he always called me "Kimberly Clarke". Charlie was one of my Dads oldest and dearest friends, and stories of their exploits as teenagers have brought us laughs thru the years. Talking about life coming full circle, Charlie sold me my first new car two years ago. I'll continue to cherish these memories and take them with me through my life. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, and that Charlie will continue to live on through the memories he made and the lives of those he touched.

Dear Lydia,
I was so shocked to learn about Charlie. He and I were the best of friends growing up. I fondly remember going to the movies with him at the Warwick theater in Newport News, laughing together while we watched the Three Stooges. I can still remember his mother telling us to behave ourselves when we were getting ready to go out somewhere. I don't know if you remember or not, but I believe the first time we met was at some tennis courts at a school on Kecoughtan Road. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I don't remember if I met you or not but I will never forget Charlie. During my time working at the shipyard, he and I hung out every day. We couldn't stop making each other laugh. I will miss him a lot even thouh I haven't seen him in a while I will never forget such a great guy.
