Otheen Ballard Obituary

WINDSOR - Otheen Graves Ballard departed this life on August 14, 2008.
She was a native of Littleton, Va. (Sussex County). She was the daughter of the late Neavy Graves and Ruth Mason Graves. She resided in Windsor, Va., and attended the public schools of Isle of Wight County and graduated from Isle of Wight Training School.
She was married to the late Francis Ballard Sr. To this union two children were born.
Otheen was an active and devoted member of Chapel Grove United Church of Christ. She was an active member of several church and community organizations.
She leaves to remember her love and the beauty of her life which she so freely shared, a son, Wendell Carlton Ballard; a daughter, Patricia Ballard Edwards; a stepson, Francis Ballard Jr.; and two grandsons, Bennaire and Nevrae Edwards. She also leaves four sisters, Bernice G. Tate of Front Royal, Va., Lucy G. Strange of Beltsville, Md., Ruth Carnell Jarvis (Rueben) of Norfolk, and Marian G. McClean (James) of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Neavy Graves of Newport News, and Rammie Ellington Graves (Elna Virginia) of Ivor, Va.; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
The service of celebration will be held at noon Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Chapel Grove United Church of Christ, Windsor. The Rev. H. Carlyle Church will deliver the eulogy and the Rev. Dr. J.J. Ferguson will officiate. The body will be placed in the church for viewing at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
