After serving 27 years in the U.S. Army, he retired as a First Sergeant in 1988. During his time in the military, he served in the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart. After retiring from military service, he began a second career, lasting 20 years, with Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery as Superintendent. Huskey and wife, Wendy; cherished and loved grandchildren, Grace and Ian Huskey; nephews, Richard and Brian Frank and their families; extended family in Germany; close friends, David and Lisa Mullins; and many other dear friends who supported his family during his illness that are too many to name.
The family expresses its deepest appreciation to the ICU nursing staff at Mary Immaculate Hospital for the comfort that was given Jack during his time under their care.
A memorial service, with military honors, celebrating Jack's life, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Peninsula Memorial Park with the Rev. Jeff Cannon presiding. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Jack's name to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters.
Friends are encouraged to visit www.mem.com to share fond memories and words of comfort with the family.
Service arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

The Huskey Family,
It was a pleasure knowing Mr. Jack. He always made me smile and he was very kind. We worked together at Peninsula Memorial Park he was always very helpful and kind. I will miss him very much. The last time i saw him he was fishing on the Gloucester Pier in his wheelchair. He was happy and I could tell that was one of his favorite things to do. We will all miss him so much but he will live in our hearts. Each time I go fishing I will remember his smile and say a little prayer.
My Deepest Sympathy,
Lisa A. Perry
