Marcella Drechsel Obituary

GLOUCESTER - Marcella J. Drechsel, 80, died Sept. 2, 2008, at Walter Reed Convalescent Center.
Marcella was born in Winburne, Pa., graduated from the college of St. Elizabeth Convent Station, New Jersey. She retired from North Hanover Board of Education, New Jersey, as Librarian. Marcella was active in Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Mount Holly Garden Club, Friends of Monmouth Gardens, Turtle Creek Quilters and the Villagers of Allentown, New Jersey, a life member of N.E.A. and the N.J.E.A. and New Egypt Historical Association and the Women's Auxiliary of the Jacobstown Fire Department. After relocating to Gloucester, she became a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Ruritan Club of Gloucester.
She is survived by her husband, Edward R. Drechsel Jr.; two sons, Edward Russell Drechsel III and Carl M. Drechsel; five grandchildren, Elisabeth, Kara, and Aubrie of Gloucester, Va., and Alexandra and Reed of Carrabassett Valley, Maine.
Memorial services officiated by the Reverend James Cowles will be held 7 p.m. Friday at St. Therese Catholic Church, Gloucester. Inurnment will be private in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, Maine, at a later date.
