Lewis Maitland Obituary
Lewis was born on Oct. 31, 1926, in Brunswick County (Warfield) to Lee Edward and Alice Jane Maitland. He was the eighth of ten children. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Hampton. He worked for the Plymcraft Division of Columbian Rope Company for many years and also Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company in Petersburg.
Survivors include two sisters, Bernice M. Roscopf and her husband, Sonny, of Newport News, and Viola M. Chinault and her husband, James, of Sutherland, Va.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gardiner Maitland; his parents, Lee Edward and Alice Martin Maitland; six sisters; and one brother.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, in Peninsula Memorial Park with the Rev. James Weston officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home of Sonny and Bernice Roscopf.

We will miss you very much and we have loved you throughout the years. God has a plan and a purpose for each one of us and His will shall be done. We too have our final appointment that we will have to face when God calls us. We tried to look out for you the best way that we could through these last 20 odd years. We will see you again some day and we will always remember your words that "God knows Best!" Love always, Bernice, Sonny and family members God loved you and we did too!

We all use to be very close and have a great time together.I know that you are at peace now and with our Lord. it is with deepest regret that so much time has passed for all not to stay close.We are family and we will always be family.
