Francis Edward "Frank" Markham

Francis Markham Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Francis Edward "Frank" Markham, 70, of Williamsburg, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, due to complications following open heart surgery.
He will always be remembered by his family and friends, wife of 28 years, Marion; daughters, Anne Sheeran and husband, Bob, Suzanne Pautlitz and husband, Carl, and special daughter, Carey; grandchildren, Madison and Jack Pautlitz; a brother, Jack Markham and wife, Shirley; nephews, Jonathan and Kurtis Markham; niece, Kimberly Garrison, and her daughter, Kendal.
Frank was born March 13, 1938, in Hampton, Va., the son of George and Anna Markham. He graduated from Hampton High in 1956 and honorably served his country as a M.P. in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.
He spent most of his life in sales. He loved being with people and since his retirement, working part-time as a Teller at Colonial Downs and a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, fulfilled this need. He loved to tell a story, often leaving people to wonder when it would ever end! Every summer he enjoyed gardening and creating unusual hanging baskets. He was an enthusiastic supporter of William and Mary football, serving a term as President of the W&M Quarterback Club.
A Graveside service will be held 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, in the Williamsburg Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bucktrout of Williamsburg Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 151 Kristiansand Dr, Suite 109, Williamsburg, VA 23188 or to the James City County Volunteer Fire and Rescue, PO Box 321, Toano, VA 23168.
On-line condolences may be registered at bucktroutfuneralhome.net.
Bucktrout of Williamsburg is in charge of the arrangements. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Frank, I will miss you. Whenever I had a bad day, I counted on your emails to bring a smile. Your thoughtfulness and sense of humor will remain with us all. I only wish I had more time to know you. Keep the angels laughing and know that you were loved and your departure is a great loss to us all.

Frank....I will miss you...Your emails, to no end. You always had a good one. I loved working with you and Marion and Cary at CD that year. We all have remaind friends and your devotion to Marion and Cary was and is still an outstanding encourgement to them to live your memory and share your humor and stories. CD love and dislike. Your love of horse racing will live on, but will not be the same as to those that I've come to know at my new job. Word travels. You are very well loved at CD. May you travel in peace as your family, watch over them, Keep them strong. God would not give us anything that we can not handle. You will be missed, but you will live on through those who love you. God Bless and God Speed to you and your loved ones. With all my Heart, Katherine (Kat) Hart.
