Mary Gupton Obituary

HAMPTON - Mary P. Gupton, 79 departed this life on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Hampton Sentara Careplex.
A native of Louisburg, N.C., she had been a resident of the peninsula for a number of years. She attended Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple and was a former employee of the Langley Officers Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Gupton Sr., and her daughter, Stella Gupton.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Cynthia Gupton and Mary Gupton both of Hampton; four sons, Otis Gupton Jr. (Barbara) of Hampton, Simon Gupton of Newport News, Larry Gupton and David Gupton both of Hampton; four grandchildren, TaTanisha Gupton, Shantila Gupton, Jeanette Gupton and Demarcus Gupton; one great-grandchild, PachE Gupton; devoted cousins, Carolyn Louise Harris, Shirley Davis, Timothy Harris, Alice Harris, Ollie Harris and Nicole Davis all of New Jersey; devoted neighbors, The Haileys and The Halls; devoted friend, Catherine Jones; a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton. Graveside services will be held 1p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Perry's Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 2269 Laurel Mill Road, Louisburg, N.C.
Relatives and friends are asked to assemble at 421 Raleigh Ave., Hampton by 8:45 a.m. Saturday.
